Student answer (Band 5.0)

Dear Sir,

I am writing this letter about article which was published yesterday about town centres in all coutries. Although, I agree with some of viewpoints but my coutries center is not same like another countries.

First and foremost it is really true that all centres are great source of enternaitment as well as amazing place for tourism. Moreover, it is correct that every center have many restaurents and games for childrens.

Therefore, my town center have totally eye-catching features. To explain it more, it include services like benches for older people, have many historic things which shows our countries culture.Furthermore, it also include library which is great source of knowledge which every tourism can have. As compare to other countries center my town center have mydrait of features which is not available in other's center.

Interestingly, I will offer you to come hear and have a look of center that you can have great expirence and you can also write different article on that.

I am looking forward to hear positive responce from you.

Your sincerely,

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

Gurleen covers all three bullet points required in the task instructions. She acknowledges points from the article regarding entertainment, tourism, restaurants, and children's games in the first main body paragraph. She then explains how her town centre is different by mentioning benches for older people, historic elements reflecting national culture, and a library. Finally, she offers to give a guided tour in the concluding section ("I will offer you to come hear and have a look of center"). The position is clear, although the ideas are somewhat limited and repetitive, which places this response comfortably at Band 5.0 in terms of task fulfillment and development.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The letter uses some basic cohesive devices such as "First and foremost", "Moreover", and "Furthermore", although some are used inaccurately or repetitively (e.g., repeatedly starting sentences with "have many" or "it also include"). Paragraphing is attempted, with a clear separation for the introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion. However, the logical progression is occasionally hindered by abrupt transitions and referencing issues, such as "come hear and have a look of center" without fully clarifying the location beforehand. Overall organisation is present, but cohesion is mechanical, reflecting a Band 5.0 level.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is relatively basic and repetitive, with noticeable spelling and word choice errors throughout the text (e.g., "coutries" for countries, "enternaitment" for entertainment, "restaurents" for restaurants, "mydrait" for myriad, and "responce" for response). While there is an attempt to use less common items like "eye-catching features" and "historic things", the lexical range remains limited and minimally adequate for the task. These errors occasionally cause some difficulty for the reader, which aligns with the Band 5 descriptors.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

Gurleen attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but her control over grammar and punctuation is inconsistent. There are frequent errors in subject-verb agreement and article usage, such as "every center have many restaurents", "my town center have totally eye-catching features", and "every tourism can have". Prepositions and relative pronouns are also frequently misused or omitted. While the meaning is generally communicated despite the frequent errors, the high density of basic grammatical mistakes prevents the score from reaching Band 6.0.
