Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Sir or Madam,
I am writing to express my viewpoint of disagreement to one of the article in National newspaper mentioning about the similarity of town centers across my country.
Firstly, I agree with the layout of essential amenities such as Grocery stores, Fitness Clubs and various restaurants are present in every town-center. Additionally, it is very convenient for every community. Consequently, for individuals who goes by walk. Secondly, there is enough parking space available which is another beneficial factor.
However, My towncenter " Shopper World Mart" is named after the first shoppers store built in 1875. In that year, John Douglas introduced to multi-floor departmental store and he named it Shoppers Mart. It was easy for residents to purchase items from different shops in one building encouraging local vendors to sell their ietms and immigrants to represent their culture. After some years, as construction going on, it got new more restaurants included. Now it also has church, sikh temple and mosque and uniting people from all cutures.
I would appreciate it if you could arrange somebody from Journalism council to get a tour of well-known Plaza which not only preserves cultural identity but also tell about historical fact.
Thank you your consideration and time. I am looking towards to
Yours faithfully,
Ravleen

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address all three requirements and make your disagreement clear from the opening. You identify points you accept—common amenities and parking—and explain what distinguishes your town centre through its history, local vendors, and places of worship. The details about the store’s origins and the Sikh temple and mosque give the letter relevant, specific content. However, the agreement with the article is explained more fully than the offer of a tour: “I would appreciate it if you could arrange somebody” asks the newspaper to arrange a visitor, rather than clearly offering to guide the writer yourself. The town’s distinctive features are also not always explained in relation to other centres. State the contrast directly and make the guided-tour offer explicit to develop every part more evenly.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The letter has a clear overall arrangement: an opening position, a paragraph agreeing with the article, a contrasting description of your town, and a closing. Sequencing words such as “Firstly,” “Secondly,” and “However” help readers follow the main stages. Some connections are less smooth or clear, though. “Consequently, for individuals who goes by walk” is an incomplete thought, and the shift from the town’s history to its newer religious buildings could be linked more explicitly. The final paragraph also moves from the town’s features to asking the newspaper to arrange a tour, which weakens the progression of the offer. Use complete sentences and clearer links between the historical and present-day details, then close with a direct invitation to the writer.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range for the topic, including “essential amenities,” “local vendors,” “cultural identity,” and “historical fact.” These choices help convey the town’s commercial and cultural character, and the meaning is generally understandable. There are some inaccurate or awkward choices that reduce naturalness, such as “viewpoint of disagreement,” “introduced to multi-floor departmental store,” and “get a tour of well-known Plaza.” Spelling and form errors, including “ietms” and “cutures,” also detract from control. Aim for more natural collocations and precise descriptions: for example, say that the town centre “differs from many others” and that you would “show the writer around.” Proofreading spelling and capitalisation would make the vocabulary more effective.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a relative clause in “which not only preserves cultural identity” and a sentence explaining how the store encouraged vendors. However, some grammatical errors make parts of the letter difficult to follow. “Amenities … are present” is followed by the incomplete fragment “Consequently, for individuals who goes by walk,” while “who goes” also has an agreement error. Other examples include “one of the article,” “as construction going on,” and “Thank you your consideration.” The closing, “I am looking towards to,” is unfinished. Build complete sentences, check subject–verb agreement and articles, and ensure each sentence has a clear main clause. More accurate control of these patterns would improve readability.
