Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Sir or Madam,
I hope this letter finds you well. I am writing this with partially agreement about your article. Which I have seen in a national newspaper, and it claims that town center in my nation all look comparatively same.
Firstly I would like to say thank you as you mentioned our locality malls in your topic. I am happy that you said our town centers are same in color and easily exessible with different modes of transportation. Moreover, fresh vegetable and fruits shops are in all centers.
However, infrastructure of city centers are comparatively unique and vary from each other. Not only local but also international brands in some of the stores. Furthermore, lighting and decoration of malls are completely different in each one. In fact some of the store has children play area, which make it diffrent from others.
I would like to give you a guide tour in my city. Please feel free to contact me for more information. I will accomodate you whenever you visit my locality.
Yours faithfully,
Yash Patel.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You address all three requested points and make your position clear: you partly agree that centres share features, then explain how yours differs and offer the writer a tour. The examples of transport access, produce shops, store lighting and children’s play areas are relevant. This meets the task well, but some points are only briefly stated. For instance, “infrastructure” and international brands are mentioned without explaining what is distinctive about them or giving a concrete local example. The offer is polite, though “I will accommodate you whenever you visit” could be made more specific by suggesting a time or describing what the tour would show. Developing these details would make your response more complete and persuasive.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The letter has a clear overall shape: an opening that responds to the article, a paragraph on shared features, a contrast paragraph, and a closing invitation. Sequencing words such as “Firstly,” “Moreover,” “However,” and “Furthermore” help the reader follow the progression. Some linking is less controlled, however. “Which I have seen in a national newspaper” is an incomplete sentence and interrupts the opening, while “Not only local but also international brands…” is also a fragment. The relationship between the article’s claims and your examples could be signposted more precisely, and the list of differences would benefit from fuller connections between ideas. Keep the paragraph structure, but use complete sentences and clearer references to the article and your town.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a range of vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “transportation,” “infrastructure,” “international brands,” “lighting,” and “decoration.” These choices help communicate the contrast between town centres. However, several noticeable spelling and word-choice problems reduce precision: “exessible,” “diffrent,” and “accomodate” are misspelled, while “partially agreement” and “comparatively same” are unnatural combinations. “Town center” and “city centers” are also used inconsistently for the same place. The vocabulary is adequate for the task, but control of collocation and spelling is not yet consistent. Learn common phrases as units, such as “partly agree,” “look similar,” and “give a guided tour,” and proofread carefully for spelling.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and more complex forms, including “I am writing…” and the contrast structure “Not only local but also international brands…”. The message remains understandable, but some sentence-structure and agreement errors are evident. “Which I have seen in a national newspaper” is a dependent clause used as a sentence, and “Not only local but also international brands in some of the stores” lacks a main verb. In “infrastructure of city centers are,” the singular subject requires a singular verb; “some of the store has” also needs plural agreement, and “which make it” should agree with the singular play area. Review sentence boundaries, subject–verb agreement, and articles. More accurate control of these patterns would make your varied attempts clearer.
