Student answer (Band 5.5)
Dear Editor,
Iam the resident of karachi.I born here 35 years ago and i used to live here with my all family.I also used to live in lahore and gujrat when i was a student.Yesterday i was reading news paper and i start reading the article which write down about the similarties about the town center of our country.
i fully agree with you on some the points where you said that every town center have similar parking bay and clubs in same design but unfortunately im not agree on the statment in which you said that all towns are similar.
Main reason for my disagreeness is that i also used to live in different cities and have experice to visit the different town centers in country.which are totaly different in arcitactural view and also have some different specifications.
I would like to offer you a guided visit with me so i can show the main differences in town centers which normaly people didnot realise.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You make your position clear: you agree that parking areas and clubs can look similar, but reject the claim that all town centres are alike. You also offer the writer a guided visit, so the main purpose of the letter is apparent. However, the required explanation of how Karachi differs is not actually supplied: “different in architectural view” and “different specifications” remain general claims, with no named landmark, layout, building style, or local feature. The points you agree with are also only briefly stated. Develop these parts with concrete examples, and make the offer more personal by suggesting what you would show the writer.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The ideas follow a broadly sensible order: you introduce your connection to Karachi, respond to the article, explain your disagreement, and make an offer. Paragraph breaks help distinguish these stages. Some links, however, are mechanical or unclear. For example, “Main reason for my disagreeness” does not smoothly connect the general claim to evidence, and “which are totally different” has an unclear reference. The opening paragraph also includes background about living in other cities without clearly showing how it supports your argument. Use clearer transitions and organise the letter around the three requested points, with each paragraph developing one point and its supporting example.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use some vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “parking bay,” “architectural view,” “specifications,” and “guided visit.” This gives you enough language to communicate the general argument, but the range is limited and several choices are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “the similarities about the town center” and “guided visit with me.” Spelling errors—including “similarties,” “experice,” and “arcitactural”—also make the writing less clear and polished. Build a more precise set of phrases for describing local features, such as historic buildings, street layout, markets, or public spaces, and check spelling and collocations carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences, including “I also used to live in different cities and have experience to visit the different town centers in country.” However, control is uneven, and errors in verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence construction sometimes make the reader work to understand your meaning. Examples include “I born here 35 years ago,” “every town center have,” and “I start reading the article which write down.” Capitalisation and punctuation are also inconsistent, particularly in the opening and the final standalone full stop. Practise accurate past-tense forms and complete sentence patterns, then proofread for articles and subject–verb agreement.
