Dear Sir or Madam,
Student answer (Band 5.5)
Dear Sir,
I am writing this letter to express my disagremment with the your statment, which you stated in a national newspaper that town centers in my country all look very similar to each other.
Firstly, I would like to mention that in my country, each city has their own town centers and they have their own identity. Many of them were built with purpose, for example, before modernization, in 19th centuray, more than 3000 villages were existed, and most of the daily necessity items were not avilable in every village. So evey 30 villages have one town center, so this town center was main hub for them to buy goods. Although I agree with some of your points like their height, colour , but still every building has theri own architectural design, for expample, in Ahmedabad, most of the town centers have carved fensing in flower design and in Delhi, most of the building crafted with different animals on wall. Therefore due to this reason, I am disagree with your article.
Further, If you have curosity to notice our divesity then I woul like to offer you a guided tour , it will be my honour to show you and explain you all town centers in detail.
Let me know , if you are interest , so I can plan our tour.
Regards,
Manan

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You make your disagreement clear and address all three bullet points: you acknowledge similarities in height and colour, describe distinctive features in Ahmedabad and Delhi, and offer the writer a guided tour. These details make the response relevant to the task. However, the explanation of how town centres developed is lengthy and does not clearly establish how your own town centre differs from most others; the examples shift between cities rather than focusing on your town. The tour offer is also brief, with little detail about what the writer would see. Develop these points more specifically—for example, name distinctive places or features in your town and explain why they are unusual. This would make the response more fully developed while retaining your clear position.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The letter has a recognisable structure: an opening stating your purpose, a main paragraph discussing similarities and differences, and a closing tour invitation. Sequencing words such as “Firstly,” “Although,” and “Further” help signal the movement between ideas. Overall, the reader can follow your position. However, the main paragraph combines historical background, general claims about town centres, and examples from Ahmedabad and Delhi, so the progression is not always clear. The repeated conclusion “Therefore due to this reason” also adds little, and the final invitation is split into two short paragraphs that could connect more smoothly. Organise the body around the article’s claims and your town’s specific contrasts, using clearer references to link each example to your argument.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a relevant range of vocabulary for the topic, including “identity,” “modernization,” “architectural design,” and “guided tour.” These choices help communicate the subject and show some willingness to use less common terms. However, spelling and word-choice errors are noticeable, including “disagremment,” “statment,” “curosity,” and “divesity.” Some phrases are also unnatural or imprecise, such as “daily necessity items” and “carved fensing in flower design,” which may make the intended details harder to picture. Aim for accurate, natural collocations and check spelling carefully. More precise descriptions of the town’s distinctive buildings and public spaces would also help you express the comparison with greater clarity.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including a concession with “Although” and a reason introduced by “So.” This gives the letter some structural variety, and the overall meaning is generally recoverable. However, errors in sentence construction, agreement, articles, and verb forms are present. For example, “each city has their own town centers” has an agreement problem, while “more than 3000 villages were existed” uses an incorrect verb form. The opening also contains an awkward construction: “with the your statement, which you stated.” Some long sentences join several ideas without clear punctuation. Use shorter, controlled sentences when explaining the history, and check subject–verb agreement, articles, and verb forms before submitting.
