Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You make a clear attempt to respond as a letter to the editor and include a point of agreement, local differences, and an invitation. The examples of winter ice skating, historical newspapers, and Red Cross assistance give the reader some relevant information about your town. However, the article’s specific points of agreement are not identified clearly: “every town center represent thier history” is a broad claim rather than a response to a particular point in the article. The explanation of what makes your town different is also difficult to follow, and the guided-tour offer is mixed with unclear aims such as “generate popuparities.” Develop each bullet point separately, state your position precisely, and explain how the examples distinguish your town from others.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The letter has a recognisable overall structure: an opening, a paragraph about the town’s facilities, and a closing invitation. Sequencing words such as “However” and “Moreover” help connect examples, and the reader can identify the broad purpose of each paragraph. At times, though, the connections are mechanical or unclear. For example, “However” does not clearly contrast with the preceding general statement, while the final sentence about a tour combines several ideas without showing how they relate. Capitalisation after linking words is also inconsistent (“However,” and “Moreover,”). Give each task point a clear focus, use transitions that express the actual relationship between ideas, and make references such as “them” unambiguous.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You attempt vocabulary relevant to the topic and letter, including “ice skating facilities,” “history,” “Red Cross assistance,” and “guided tour.” These choices show an effort to describe local services and make an invitation. However, spelling and word-choice errors are noticeable and sometimes make the message difficult to understand: “dissatisfection,” “establied,” “rental room,” and “trail town” do not communicate your intended meaning clearly. Some phrases are also unnatural, such as “spread store of the secrifise people” and “generate popuparities.” Check spelling carefully and choose direct, familiar expressions where you are unsure. More precise vocabulary for the article’s claims and your town’s distinctive features would make the letter clearer and more effective.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You use both simple statements and some longer sentences, including “However, Our town has been providing ice skating facilities in winter to everyone and in summer you can get a chance to read a book…” This shows an attempt to connect related information. However, errors in verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence construction occur frequently and can make meaning hard to follow. For example, “I am leaving in BC” and “has different facilities” do not form a correct description of where you live, while “every town center represent” has a subject–verb agreement error. The long sentence beginning “I would like to invite you” also lacks clear grammatical control. Practise accurate basic sentence patterns first, then build longer sentences while checking agreement, tense, and punctuation.
