Student answer (Band 7.0)
Some individuals are interested in exploring new places and trying new cuisines. While others want to visit same places every time and like to eat same food they are already familiar with. There are various reasons for these choices. This essay will discuss both sides before explaining why I believe people should try new food and new restaurants rather than going to the same places all the time.
On the one hand, many people choose to visit their trusted food restaurants and local tourist places whenever they go for outing. The primary reason for this is that they feel so comfortable in their own local choices that they do not like to leave this comfortable zone. As a result, they just stick to the same choices every time. In addition, some people are too scared to try new cuisines because they think that their money would be wasted if they will not like the food. For instance, one of my friends do the same. She always prefers to go at Indian restaurants. I asked her many times to try something new. But she always told me that she do not want to waste her money.
On the other hand, some individuals always like to try new food and visit new places. This is because they want to explore everything instead of going to same place every time. They believe that trying food from different cultures help them to learn about their traditional culture and culinary skills. Moreover, visiting new tourist places help people to broaden their horizens. This will, in turn, lead to make people more open minded. As a result, they will respect all cultures and people from all races. For example, a person who never visited any international heritage place, may not have any knowledge about their culture or food. Ultimately, he or she will not have enough respect for other religions or cultures because he or she does not know about that.
In conclusion, although some people always want to stick to their local food restaurants and tourist places because of their choice, I believe everyone should try something new everyday. This will enhance their knowledge about the world which will help them to become responsible citizens of country.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.5
The response addresses all parts of the task: it discusses both attitudes and provides a clear personal opinion. The ideas are relevant and generally well-developed, particularly the discussion on the benefits of trying new things. However, the development of the first viewpoint (staying with the familiar) is slightly less nuanced, relying on a single example of a friend. To reach a higher band, the student could provide more diverse examples or deeper analysis of why familiarity provides psychological comfort. The position is consistent throughout the essay, and the conclusion effectively summarizes the argument.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.5
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the two viewpoints. Cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand', 'In addition', 'Moreover', and 'As a result' are used to guide the reader through the argument. While the flow is generally smooth, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and there is occasional repetition of phrases like 'same place every time'. Overall, the progression of ideas is clear and easy to follow.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
The vocabulary is sufficient to convey the intended meaning clearly. The student uses some topic-specific vocabulary such as 'cuisines', 'culinary skills', 'open minded', and 'heritage place'. However, the range is somewhat limited, and there is a tendency to repeat basic words like 'food', 'places', and 'choices'. There are also minor collocation issues, such as 'go at Indian restaurants' instead of 'go to Indian restaurants'. To improve, the student should aim for more varied synonyms and more precise collocations to demonstrate a wider lexical range.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is always clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'one of my friends do', 'she do not want') and article usage. There are also minor issues with sentence fragments and tense consistency. While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Increasing the variety of complex structures and proofreading for basic agreement errors would significantly improve the accuracy of the writing.
