Student answer (Band 6.5)
Many individuals like to experience new things, such as exploring new places and trying different kinds of food. However, some people like to do the same things because they feel comfortable. In this essay, I will discuss both views and give my perspective.
On the one hand, people want to do new things in their lives. Firstly, they like to go to new places and enjoy the beauty of those places. For example, one has a hobby of hiking, so they wanna go to those places or locations where they can do these things. With this, they can experience new places and can do their favorite things as well. So, people can enjoy and explore with new folks. Secondly, many people like to try new foods because they want to taste different items. For instance, individuals can know the taste of new food and also learn about different cultures from where that particular food's journey begins. Therefore, they can learn many new things from these experiences.
On the other hand, most of the people prefer to do the same things because they feel more relaxed with this and already know about it. For instance, individuals do not want to take risks by trying new things because they do not want to come out of their comfort zone. Moreover, these kinds of people think that trying new things is a waste of time. So, they just want to do the same things in which they are familiar with and feel more comfortable with this.
In the epilogue, I would put my pen down by writing that, in my opinion, trying new experiences is a better thing because with this one can get a lot of knowledge about things they are going to try, like new food, places, etc. However, some people just want to do relax by doing the same things they are used to.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both attitudes and providing a clear personal opinion. The ideas are relevant, such as the desire for exploration versus the comfort of routine. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the argument regarding 'new folks' and the 'journey' of food is a bit superficial. To reach a higher band, you should provide more specific, nuanced examples or deeper reasoning to support your points. The position is clear throughout, but the conclusion is slightly repetitive and could be more impactful by summarizing the main arguments more effectively.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the progression of ideas. You use basic cohesive devices like 'On the one hand,' 'Firstly,' 'Secondly,' and 'In the epilogue' to link your thoughts. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and the use of referencing could be more sophisticated. For example, the transition between the benefits of new experiences and the reasons for staying in a comfort zone is functional but lacks a smooth, logical bridge. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring they are used naturally would enhance the overall coherence.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using words like 'individuals,' 'perspective,' and 'comfort zone.' However, the vocabulary is somewhat repetitive and lacks precision. Phrases like 'do the same things' and 'new things' are used frequently. There are also some informal choices, such as 'wanna' and 'put my pen down,' which are inappropriate for an IELTS essay. To improve, focus on using more academic synonyms and collocations to express your ideas with greater precision and variety, avoiding colloquialisms entirely.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors, such as 'one has a hobby of hiking, so they wanna go' (subject-verb agreement/informal) and 'do not want to do relax' (incorrect verb form). Additionally, there are minor issues with preposition usage and phrasing, such as 'in which they are familiar with.' While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and avoiding informal contractions will help improve your accuracy.
