Student answer (Band 6.5)
Some individuals love facing new challenges and wants to keep making changes like trying new places, activities and foods too. And, this change forces them to push themselves harder and it also makes their life exciting. However, there are some who do not want to change anything about their life and they love doing the same thing every day.
On the one hand, where change means testing yourself and forces the brain and body to adapt to it. Plus, change is the only variable which ensure the growth and the continuous existence in the environment. Because, without a change nothing can grow and its existence itself comes into danger. For instance, few years ago when Nokia as a smartphones was dominating the market they refuses to make any change and they keep providing the same thing but after a while there share in the market got dominated by someone who refuses to stay the same.
However, at the other hand, there are some people who hates the change in itself and they got so independent and comfortable on there lifestyle that they want to keep doing the same thing every day. Additionally, even if anything do change like a change in there work schedule, there food they would get defensive and could even go up to any length to keep it same.
In my opinion, change is beneficial as it forces the individual to push himself to do things which he would not do under the normal circumstances plus it also ensure the survival as a competitor and as an mammal too. So, a person should always go for a change instead of just remaining the same.
In conclusion, being the same and following the same schedule every day could be easy but it also comes with the danger of being replaced and extinct.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both attitudes and providing a clear personal opinion. The ideas are relevant, such as the Nokia example to illustrate the risks of stagnation. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited; the argument regarding 'survival as a mammal' is a bit abstract and could have been better linked to the prompt's focus on daily life and experiences. The position is consistent throughout, but the supporting arguments could be more nuanced to reach a higher band. Overall, the response is a solid attempt that covers the requirements of the task effectively.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each with a distinct focus. The use of cohesive devices like 'On the one hand', 'However', and 'In conclusion' helps the reader follow the argument. However, some transitions are slightly mechanical or repetitive, and there are instances where the flow between sentences is a bit abrupt. For example, the transition between the Nokia example and the subsequent paragraph could be smoother. Referencing is generally clear, though some minor issues with pronoun usage exist. The paragraphing is appropriate and contributes to the overall coherence of the piece.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express their ideas clearly. There are attempts to use less common vocabulary, such as 'variable', 'dominating', and 'extinct'. However, there are noticeable errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'there share' (their share) and 'as an mammal' (as a mammal). These errors do not impede communication, but they do highlight a lack of precision. To improve, the writer should focus on mastering common collocations and ensuring correct word forms are used consistently throughout the text.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the writer attempts complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement ('individuals... wants', 'change... ensure') and the misuse of homophones ('there' instead of 'their'). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are some awkward phrasings that slightly disrupt the flow. While the errors are frequent, they rarely impede the reader's understanding of the main points. Increasing the frequency of error-free sentences and focusing on basic grammatical accuracy would significantly improve the score in this criterion.
