IELTS Writing Task 2 question

Some people like to try new things, for example, places to visit and types of food. Other people prefer to keep doing things they are familiar with.

Discuss both these attitudes and give your own opinion.

Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

 

Student answer (Band 6.0)

Many people often experiments with their food and the places they would like to visit, however some people tend to do the same things they are aware of. Some believes trying out different things help them experience new places and new foods. While, some does not want to take risk or experiment with their food. I my opinion, it is very important explore new places and try new food, what if you end up liking it.

One of the main the main reason why a person keep repeating the same things because they are familiar with those things. If you keep eating the same food it is less risky you don't like the food and the money you spend did not go to waste. For example, many families taking the same trip every year on summer because of the familiarity.

On the other hand, it is a great thing to explore. For so many people it give the sense of thrill to visit unknown places and take a bet on food. For instance, many individuals has created a bucket list for the things they want to eat and places they want to travel. It gives them the sense of liberty.

In conclusion, exploring things is a good things since, you have only one life and majority of people wants to live it in a full potential. While there is no issue of keep doing the same things to feel the sense of belonging.

While the meaning is generally clear, the range of vocabulary is limited, and there is little evidence of less common or idiomatic language that would be expected at higher bands.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, particularly with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'Some believes', 'some does not', 'many individuals has'). Sentence structures are mostly simple, and attempts at complex sentences often contain errors, such as 'One of the main the main reason why a person keep repeating...'.
