Student answer (Band 6.5)
A chunk of individuals love to try new things, for instance keen to travel and different kinds of cuisine, while on the other hand, some people do not want to experiment and keep doings things which are familiar to them. I am the first one who loves to visit. I will discuss both the views as further below with relevant examples.
Firstly, there are people who wants to try each and everything in the world. Some are fond of eating, so they experiment with different varieties of food and some wants to visit each place. The reason for this is very simple, they do not want to live a simple and boring life, they are ready to make memories, collect new experiences, make new friends and cross all the limits. For instance, one of my friend, she has visited 36 countries and tried almost every cuisine. She is only 26 years old, according to her, we have only one life, so enjoy it to the fullest, that's her mindset.
On the contrary, there are some folks, who do want to come out of their comfort zone because they have lived their whole life with that thing. They keep themselves restricted to the outer world. For example, my grandfather never ate any food other than Indian cuisine and also never travelled outside of his town.
I am a person who does not stay at home. I always go out when have free time. I love to try different kinds of food, last week me and my husband went to a Chinese restaurant and we had the Chinese ramen, it was really delicious and we enjoyed a lot.
In conclusion, everybody have different hobbies, some like to visit new places and eat different food but does not.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. While you mention your grandfather and your own experiences, the analysis of why people prefer familiarity versus novelty could be more deeply explored to reach a higher band. The conclusion is incomplete and does not effectively summarize the main points or restate your position clearly, which impacts the overall task fulfillment. To improve, ensure that each body paragraph provides a more thorough explanation of the underlying reasons for these attitudes rather than just listing examples.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and occasionally repetitive. For example, the transition 'On the contrary' is used correctly, but the flow between sentences within paragraphs could be smoother. The final paragraph is particularly weak, as it ends abruptly and fails to provide a cohesive summary of the arguments presented. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence and a logical conclusion would enhance the overall coherence.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary used is generally adequate for the task, but it lacks the range and precision required for a higher band. You rely on basic phrasing such as 'each and everything' and 'doings things'. There are also some awkward collocations, such as 'a chunk of individuals' and 'cross all the limits'. To improve, try to incorporate more sophisticated vocabulary related to the topic, such as 'adventurous', 'comfort zone', 'routine-oriented', or 'cultural immersion'. Focusing on more precise word choices will help you convey your ideas more effectively and demonstrate a wider lexical range.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, particularly with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'people who wants', 'everybody have') and sentence structure. Some sentences are run-on or lack proper punctuation, which occasionally makes the meaning slightly unclear. While you attempt to use complex sentences, they often contain errors that hinder the flow. To reach a higher band, focus on mastering basic subject-verb agreement and ensuring that your sentences are correctly structured. Proofreading for common errors like pluralization and verb tense consistency will significantly improve the accuracy of your writing.
