Student answer (Band 7.0)

There is no doubt that many people love to come out of their comfort zone and try new things, whereas others do not like to break their safe zone and do such things. This essay is going to discuss the both views and I strongly believe to try new things in life.

Nowadays people are doing a variety of new things such as travelling to different places , trying different type of food and so on. One of the major advantage of visiting a new place is, they could experience the different cultures. They could interact with people from different cultures and also can make a good relationship with them. Moreover, this activity can lead to exploration of nature in different regions. For instance, a person who enjoy spending time in nature will love the journey to forests such as amazon forest.

Furthermore, today people are trying different dishes from many countries shows a cultural exchange. Famous cuisines from different locations around the world are widely available in many hotels in every country. For example, India is a county with wide varieties of food items, even though during the last few years especially after covid pandemic many Arabian and French restaurants become popular than the local hotels.

However, there are some people who do not like to come outside their comfort space which have some advantages and drawbacks. The main benefit is they could focus more on what they are doing results in more efficient output. On the other hand, there might be chance to get boredom after a long period of time which eventually cause many mental health issues like depression and anxiety.

In conclusion, to be more creative and get to know the world people have to come out of there comfort space and try out new things.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0

You have addressed all parts of the prompt by discussing both attitudes and providing your own opinion. The ideas are relevant, such as cultural exchange and the benefits of routine. However, the development is somewhat uneven. While you provide examples like the Amazon forest or the popularity of international cuisine, some points, such as the 'mental health issues' mentioned in the third paragraph, are introduced but not fully explored. To reach a higher band, ensure that every point is supported by a clear explanation or a more detailed example. Your position is clear from the introduction to the conclusion, which is a positive aspect of your writing.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0

The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each focusing on a specific aspect of the prompt. You use cohesive devices such as 'Moreover', 'Furthermore', 'On the other hand', and 'In conclusion' to guide the reader through your argument. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and there are minor issues with referencing (e.g., 'which have some advantages' refers back to a whole clause rather than a specific noun). The progression of ideas is generally smooth, though the link between the 'comfort space' and 'mental health' could be more explicitly connected to improve the flow of your argument.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'cultural exchange', 'cuisines', and 'efficient output'. There are some instances of slightly unnatural phrasing, such as 'come out of their comfort zone' (the standard idiom is 'step out of') and 'do such things'. Additionally, there are minor errors in word choice, such as 'a county with wide varieties' (should be 'country'). While your vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning clearly, you should aim to incorporate more precise collocations and less common lexical items to demonstrate a higher level of sophistication.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While your meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'a person who enjoy' should be 'enjoys') and article usage (e.g., 'the amazon forest'). There are also some punctuation and phrasing issues, such as 'there comfort space' (should be 'their'). These errors do not impede communication, but they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. To improve, focus on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and ensuring consistent use of pronouns and articles.
