Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is quite limited and repetitive. The essay fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, which significantly impacts the depth of the discussion. The arguments provided, such as 'exploring culture' or 'staying with childhood friends', are mentioned but not sufficiently expanded upon with detailed examples or logical reasoning. To improve, you should aim to elaborate on your points by explaining the 'why' and 'how' behind your opinions, ensuring you meet the length requirement to allow for a more comprehensive exploration of the topic.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or repetitive (e.g., 'To begin with', 'On the other hand', 'To conclude'). There are instances where the progression of ideas feels disjointed, particularly in the transition between the body paragraphs and the conclusion. Referencing is sometimes unclear, such as the phrase 'those who are familer with safe people', which lacks clarity. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that each sentence flows logically from the previous one will help improve the coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is basic and repetitive, often relying on simple terms like 'good', 'new things', and 'places'. There are numerous spelling errors throughout the text, such as 'individulas', 'differnt', 'afmiiar', and 'phenoemon', which occasionally make the text difficult to read. While the meaning is generally conveyed, the range of vocabulary is insufficient to demonstrate the flexibility required for higher bands. You should focus on learning synonyms for common words and practicing the spelling of academic vocabulary to enhance the precision and quality of your writing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay relies heavily on simple sentence structures. While there are attempts at complex sentences, they are often marred by grammatical errors, such as 'they do not want to take stress in their life by visiting those places where they unfamilier with them'. Punctuation is inconsistent, and there are frequent errors in subject-verb agreement and word order. To improve, you should practice using a wider variety of complex structures, such as relative clauses and conditional sentences, while paying closer attention to basic grammatical accuracy and proofreading for common slips.
