Student answer (Band 7.0)

In this modern era, where international travel became very easy, there are plenty of people, who loves to travel, explore new places and eat various types of food. While, on the contrary, some individuals still want to engage with the things which they are doing from starting. In this paragraph, I will discuss both the statements and will give my views about that.

First and foremost, this is the pro-technology era, in which there are several inventions that have changed the human lifestyle. With the help of aviation technology, travelling internationally has become very easy, as a result, humans are exploring different countries and trying their food. For example, the pyramids of the Egypt, citizens of the different countries just visit Egypt to see the pyramids and to explore their culture. Moreover, individuals gets the opportunity to taste variety of foods and drinks, which has its own history and taste, as every country has their own speciality in particular foods.

Admittedly, there is a certain proportion of populace, who are not interested to try new and different things. They hesitate to experience something new, always live their life in the comfort zone. They live happily with their family and friends and always enjoy their culture. Furthermore, every nation has its own rules and regulations, some countries are dangerous and are not safe to visit, sometimes language becomes the barrier, therefore, certain people avoid to outside of their country.

In my opinion, we should travel and explore world and live our life to the fullest. Travelling gives us memorable experiences and we got to know more about the countries, their culture, their foods and history. By having food from the nations from where it originated, we get authentic taste of it. For instance, I also got the privilege to go to Europe and it was a wholesome experience that will stay with me my whole life.

In conclusion, I will say that travelling is a fun and adventurous activity to do and every one should do that. However, there are some people who hesitate to go out and experience new things, but they should also step out and see the world.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0

The response addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both attitudes toward trying new things versus maintaining familiarity, and provides a clear personal opinion. The ideas are relevant and generally well-developed, such as the mention of aviation technology and the comfort of familiar routines. However, the development could be more nuanced; for instance, the explanation of why some people prefer familiarity is somewhat brief and relies on generalizations about safety and language barriers. The position is consistent throughout the essay, and the conclusion effectively summarizes the main points while reiterating the writer's stance. To reach a higher band, the student should aim to provide more depth in the analysis of the opposing viewpoint.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.5

The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Each paragraph has a central theme, and the progression of ideas is generally easy to follow. Cohesive devices such as 'First and foremost', 'Moreover', 'Admittedly', and 'In conclusion' are used to link ideas, although some transitions feel slightly mechanical. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the different viewpoints. While the flow is generally smooth, there are occasional instances where the connection between sentences could be more sophisticated to improve the overall cohesion of the argument.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task and allows the writer to express their ideas clearly. There is an attempt to use a range of vocabulary, such as 'aviation technology', 'wholesome experience', and 'populace'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'doing things which they are doing from starting' (instead of 'things they have always done') and 'avoid to outside of their country' (instead of 'avoid going outside'). While these errors do not impede communication, they indicate a need for more precise control over word forms and collocations to reach a higher band.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors throughout the text, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('people, who loves', 'individuals gets') and incorrect verb forms ('avoid to outside'). Punctuation is generally functional, though there are some unnecessary commas, such as in 'people, who loves'. Despite these errors, the meaning remains clear throughout the response. To improve, the student should focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of infinitives and prepositions to ensure that complex sentences are constructed with greater accuracy.
