IELTS Writing Task 2 question

Some people like to try new things, for example, places to visit and types of food. Other people prefer to keep doing things they are familiar with.

Discuss both these attitudes and give your own opinion.

Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

 

Student answer (Band 6.5)

It can be seen that some people prefer to go the new places and consume different types of food items, while there are certain individuals who have ritual to go some where and eating same dishes. Although, following the habit of going to same places and eating same foods would be shown that feeling of satisfaction, I believe people who try new things have personality of exploring the world.

On the one hand, people who do not to visit new places and try new food because they are fully satisfied with already they have. In other words, some people develop mindset to so same thing it mainly because of the personality, where other sometimes could not satisfied after trying everything. For example, whenever some people go to somewhere they take their own food with them this is not they do not want to try different food, it because they have no desire to eat other foods they completely satisfied what they are eating. However, I feel it would be not as intriguing as try different things.

On the other hand, individuals who like to travel to those where they never visit because they want to explore new things. This thing stimulates them to visit different countries and try their foods which is beneficial for not only for them because it gives a sense of satisfaction but also it also make them to make new records. For instance, hikers who try new mountains to explore and it brings them sense of achievement, surprisingly, people who have this mindset sometime make record. Hence, it is more adventurous to visit different places.

To conclude, whereas certain individuals feel satisfaction with their habit of going same places, people who try new things because they would like to the sense of accomplishment.

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. You rely on basic terms like 'good', 'new things', and 'satisfaction' repeatedly.
