Student answer (Band 6.5)

There are few people who love to explore new places as well as they like to experiment with their food and make life more interesting. While others prefer to be in their comfort zone and keep doing they usually do. This essay will discuss both the views before presenting my opinion.

On the one hand, there are several individuals who keen excitement in their daily routine and explore more places when it comes to travelling. This attitude not only brings positivity but also gives courage to do experiment with new things. Moreover, doing unfamiliar tasks provide sense of freedom and enhance knowledge in certain aspects.

On the other hand, there are people who prefer to spend their holidays on specific location as it is either emotionally connected or it provide comfort to them. Sometimes individuals do not want to try new things as they lack confidence. Additionally, one of the paramount reason people prefer not to introduce new things to themselves as it might affect their mental health if things do not work according to their need.

In my opinion, while it is important to feel safe and secure by following routine, exploring with new places, trying different sports and cuisines is also significantly important to keep life alive.

In conclusion, being in comfort zone is as important as experimenting various tasks to maintain mental health and well-being of an individual. Therefore, people should spend their time gaining more knowledge about things which are not part of their day to day life.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both attitudes and providing a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the explanation of why people prefer their comfort zone is brief and could be strengthened with more concrete examples or deeper analysis. While the position is clear, the arguments remain at a general level. To reach a higher band, you should aim to expand on your points with more specific illustrations or logical consequences, ensuring that the development is consistent throughout the essay.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0

The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each with a distinct focus. You use some cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand', 'Moreover', and 'In conclusion' to guide the reader. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and there are instances where the flow between sentences could be smoother. For example, the transition between the discussion of comfort zones and the reason for avoiding new things could be more fluid. Overall, the progression of ideas is coherent, and paragraphing is used appropriately.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'experiment', 'comfort zone', and 'paramount'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'keen excitement' (should be 'seek excitement') and 'doing they usually do' (should be 'what they usually do'). While these errors do not impede communication, they limit the precision of your writing. To improve, focus on learning common collocations and using more sophisticated synonyms to express your ideas more naturally.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you attempt complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors, such as 'doing they usually do', 'provide sense of freedom' (missing article), and 'one of the paramount reason' (should be 'reasons'). Additionally, there are minor issues with subject-verb agreement and article usage. While these errors rarely impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy and refining your use of articles would be beneficial.
