Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is limited. For example, the explanation of why people prefer familiar things is vague, mentioning 'privacy, peace and budget' without explaining how these relate to the choice of routine. The arguments are somewhat repetitive and lack depth, often relying on general statements rather than specific examples. While the prompt is addressed, the supporting points are not fully extended, which limits the score. To improve, ensure each paragraph has a clear, well-explained central idea supported by concrete evidence or logical reasoning.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. Phrases like 'To begin with', 'In addition to these', and 'A part from this' are used, but the logical flow between sentences is frequently interrupted by awkward phrasing or non-sequiturs. For instance, the transition 'By this they mean that when explorer visit major places they try new verity of foods' does not logically follow the previous sentence. The referencing is sometimes unclear, making it difficult to track the argument's progression. Improving the variety and naturalness of linking words would enhance the overall coherence.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is limited and often imprecise. There are several instances of incorrect word choice, such as 'delicious disease' (likely meant 'dishes') and 'experienced things' (likely meant 'familiar things'). The phrase 'addicted by foods' is also an unnatural collocation. While the student attempts to use some topic-specific vocabulary like 'tourism economy' and 'traditions', the overall range is narrow and repetitive. Many sentences are hindered by these lexical inaccuracies, which occasionally impede the reader's understanding. Expanding your vocabulary through reading and focusing on collocations—words that naturally go together—would be highly beneficial.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('people is', 'they are mostly do'), article usage ('the former view'), and word form errors ('different type of foods' instead of 'types'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma placement. While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar structures prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. Focusing on proofreading for basic errors like pluralisation and verb tense consistency would significantly improve the clarity and quality of your writing.
