Student answer (Band 7.0)

A growing number of people like to explore new tourist locations or try various food in order to get thrilling vibes and adventurous feelings. Others people believe to do familiar things instead of trying new tourist locations or sort of meals. I largely agree with the both statement, as exploring new places access them to discover new cultures, history and tradition, whereas, following routine tasks provide them comfort, convenience and reduce the chances of unforeseen consequences.

On the one hand, travelling to new tourist locations allow them to gain valuable knowledge regarding various architecture, art, dressing style and meals. For instance, visiting UK will offers them breath-taking view of natural beauty, new atmosphere, different language and cultures. Additionally, this types of trip encourage them to develop new skills like good communication, self-esteem and independence, which would be beneficial for them in the future. Sometimes trying new food will broaden their knowledge regarding diverse spices, flavours and taste. Hence, doing unfamiliar things build confidence and foster them to improve their adaption capacity.

On the other hand, following routine activities bring tremendous benefits to people. For instance, discovering same places every year reduce the burden of individual person and provide them more time to spend with their family. Additionally, familiar with destination places' environment mitigate the chances of health issues and provide them more time to discover new history, social morals, lifestyle, etiquette and so on. Sometimes routine food provide them energy throughout the day and fulfil the demands their body regarding nutrition.

In conclusion, visiting new locations or trying types of food offer them chance to discover new cultures, amenities, architecture, tempting cuisines and lifestyles. However, familiar things offer them convenience, security and reduce the chances of health problems while travelling. Overall, a balanced approach would be advisable for their personal and professional development and well-being rather than totally reliant any of them.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0

The response addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both attitudes and providing a clear personal opinion. The ideas are relevant and generally well-supported, such as the benefits of cultural exposure versus the comfort of routine. However, some arguments are slightly repetitive, and the development could be more nuanced. For instance, the example of visiting the UK is a bit generic. To reach a higher band, ensure that each point is fully explored with more specific detail rather than listing general benefits. Overall, the position is consistent throughout the essay, and the task requirements are met effectively.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0

The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the two viewpoints. Cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand', 'Additionally', and 'In conclusion' are used to guide the reader. However, there are instances where the flow is slightly mechanical, and some referencing is a bit repetitive (e.g., the frequent use of 'them' and 'they' without clear antecedents). Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring smoother transitions between sentences would enhance the overall coherence of the piece.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express ideas clearly. There is an attempt to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'unforeseen consequences', 'adaption capacity', and 'tempting cuisines'. However, there are some word choice errors and awkward collocations, such as 'Others people believe to do' (should be 'Other people prefer to do') and 'access them to discover' (should be 'allow them to discover'). While the range is sufficient, more precise and sophisticated vocabulary would elevate the score. The errors do not impede communication, but they are noticeable.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5

The essay demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the writer attempts complex forms, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'visiting UK will offers', 'this types of trip') and article usage. Punctuation is generally functional, but there are minor slips throughout. The errors are frequent enough to be noticeable but do not prevent the reader from understanding the intended meaning. To improve, the writer should focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of plural/singular nouns to ensure greater accuracy in complex sentences.
