Student answer (Band 7.0)

As generation change, people processes thoughts differently. Nowadays, some persons like to explore new ventures and dishes while other decide to follow the common among the population or previously experienced thing. Perspectives from the both aspects will be included in this essay along with my point of view and conclusion.

First and foremost, currently young and latest generation have interest to do something creative to get different experiences from the travel. For instance, youngsters instantly plan a road trip by car or bike ended up staying at unknown place in a portable tents instead of pre-booked accomodation and transport. Which allows them to be independent and gain experience to survive in critical situation and know more about unknown place and local culture. Additionally, people are more involved with social media to be recognized in a society. As a part of that they start a channel on online platform with trying or cooking different type of cuisines to gain popularity. Eventually, it helps them to know more about different regional and international cuisines.

On the other hand, older individuals or people with a very busy schedule prefers to visit comfortable place to relax and have their comfortable meal to avoid any health issues. To exemplify, office workers are planning a holidays on a popular beach or resort to reduce work stress and relax their mind instead of going for an unusual adventure activity. In addition, some people do not try different dishes as they have a their planned meals as a part of their routine to avoid and health consequences and have a healthy lifestyle.

To conclude, people may have various reasons for choosing a particular travel destination to visit and eating preferences. I believe that hiking and travelling to new places and trying different and fusion dishes give an experience and improve understanding of nature and local regions.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0

The response addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both attitudes and providing a personal opinion. The ideas are relevant, such as the desire for independence in younger generations versus the need for comfort and health in older individuals. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited; for instance, the link between social media and trying new cuisines is mentioned but not fully explored in relation to the prompt's core theme of 'new things' versus 'familiarity'. The position is clear throughout, though the conclusion could be more robustly linked to the main body arguments to ensure a more cohesive final stance.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0

The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each focusing on a specific aspect of the prompt. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'First and foremost', 'On the other hand', and 'To conclude', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions are slightly mechanical or awkward, such as 'As a part of that' or 'As generation change'. Referencing is generally clear, but the flow between sentences within paragraphs could be improved to create a more natural progression of ideas. Overall, the structure is coherent and easy to follow.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express their ideas clearly. There are attempts to use less common vocabulary, such as 'ventures', 'cuisines', and 'fusion', which is positive. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'people processes thoughts' (should be 'process'), 'previously experienced thing' (should be 'familiar routines'), and 'have a their planned meals'. While these errors do not impede communication, they indicate a need for more precise control over word forms and collocations to reach a higher band.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement ('generation change', 'people... prefers'), article usage ('a unknown place', 'a health consequences'), and pluralization. Some sentences are slightly disjointed, such as 'Which allows them to be independent...', which is a sentence fragment. Despite these errors, the writer demonstrates an ability to construct complex sentences, and the errors rarely cause confusion for the reader. Greater attention to basic grammatical accuracy would significantly improve the score.
