Student answer (Band 7.0)
Some believe in exploring different activities like visiting to a new place and try a different food item first-time in their life, while rest choose to repeat activities which are done before. While repeating similar activities has potentially less danger, this essay believes that performing new activities gives important experience.
Try and tested activities have more security because an individual already knows all about them so that he can avoid any unwanted things in future before happening. This activities are the safer option when an individual has to choose from the random options. For example, some seafood has venomous parts that affect the immune system and by carefully removing those parts an experience chef can avoid threat. However, people with such kind of mentality would not grow longer in life, especially when they intentionally avoid any new experiences in their life.
A different recreational activity provides an immense practical information, which is a crucial part of the lifestyle to update ourselves. In different stages of life, people have to do various things first time in their life which provide them good lessons for living comfortably. For example, learning a new language has its' own difficulties but it may make communication easier and effective with people from different culture. Therefore, adapting new things would eventually benefit person as in every phase of life has specific need to change.
In conclusion, although performing same things without change have more security, this essay maintains that change is inevitable and learning new things is a key part of our life.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both attitudes and providing a clear personal opinion. The ideas are relevant, such as the security of familiar activities versus the personal growth gained from new experiences. However, the development is somewhat limited; the example of the seafood chef is slightly tangential and could have been more directly linked to the concept of 'familiarity' in a broader sense. The position is consistent throughout, but the arguments could benefit from more depth to reach a higher band. Overall, the task is fulfilled adequately.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the two viewpoints. Cohesive devices such as 'However', 'For example', and 'Therefore' are used to link ideas, though some transitions feel a bit mechanical. Referencing is generally clear, although there are minor issues with pronoun agreement (e.g., 'This activities'). The progression of ideas is easy to follow, and the essay maintains a coherent flow from start to finish.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
The vocabulary is sufficient to convey the intended meaning, but it lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. There are some awkward collocations, such as 'try a different food item first-time in their life' and 'grow longer in life'. While the student attempts to use some topic-specific vocabulary like 'recreational activity' and 'immune system', the overall lexical control is somewhat basic. To improve, the student should focus on more natural word combinations and avoid repetitive phrasing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('an experience chef', 'the random options'), subject-verb agreement ('This activities are'), and pluralization. While these errors do not impede communication, they are persistent enough to prevent a higher score. The student demonstrates an attempt at complex sentences, but the control over these structures is inconsistent. More attention to basic grammatical accuracy and proofreading for small errors would be beneficial.
