Student answer (Band 6.5)

At present, the ratio of trying various kinds of foods has been increasing day by day. Although many people are fond of visiting new places and different varieties of food, some people like to keep things simple and the same as what they are used to doing. I personally agree with the former view, because it allows people to experience new things; both aspects, along with my perspective, will be discussed in the following paragraphs.

To commence with, there are ample of benefits of trying new meals at different places. First and foremost, humans can explore food and areas of the world in different parts, which allows them to experience various flavours and know about culture and other lifestyles, which enhance their thinking as well as they come out from the conservative thinking. For example, nowadays a majority of people like to migrate from one country to other because they try the food and culture, and they like it and they also admire the area and they wate to experience that again and again. It is evident that they experience it and they like to explore different things.

Nevertheless, there are also some people who like to stick with the same thing because they feel comfortable in their world, and also it is expensive. To explain it, sometimes people are afraid of trying new food as well as visiting different area because if they try and they did not like it then it just waste of money and they feel to save it, but if they ear their regular food they do not have to think twice that it will be good or not due to they already know the taste, they already comfortable where they get satisfaction. To cite an example, it is clear that some people like saving money instead of spending for doing new experiments.

In conclusion, it can be reiterated that some people like to try new food for experience and I also believe that, however, others think it is a waste of money instead of this go with the one they already know.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both attitudes and providing a clear personal opinion. The ideas are relevant, though the development is somewhat repetitive. For instance, the argument regarding the cost of trying new things is mentioned multiple times in the third paragraph without adding significant depth. The position is consistent throughout, but the supporting examples, such as the mention of migration, are slightly tangential to the core topic of food and travel preferences. To reach a higher band, focus on providing more specific, well-reasoned examples that directly support the main points rather than repeating the same justification.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'To commence with', 'Nevertheless', and 'In conclusion', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions are mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'instead of this go with the one they already know' in the conclusion. Referencing is generally clear, but some sentences are long and run-on, which occasionally obscures the logical flow between clauses. Improving the variety and naturalness of linking phrases would enhance the overall coherence of the response.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the student to express their ideas clearly. There are some attempts at less common vocabulary, such as 'conservative thinking' and 'reiterated', but there are also instances of imprecise word choice, such as 'wate' (want) and 'ear' (eat). Collocations are sometimes weak, for example, 'ample of benefits' should be 'ample benefits' or 'a range of benefits'. While the meaning is generally clear, the range of vocabulary is somewhat limited, and the errors in word choice and spelling prevent a higher score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The student uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement, article usage, and sentence construction. For example, 'there are ample of benefits' and 'it just waste of money' contain clear errors. Some sentences are overly long and lack proper punctuation, making them difficult to follow. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to be noticeable. To improve, the student should focus on basic sentence structure accuracy and proofreading for common errors like missing articles and verb forms.
