Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a personal opinion, meeting the basic requirements of the prompt. However, the essay is significantly under the 250-word minimum, which limits the depth of development. The ideas regarding why people prefer familiarity or novelty are present but remain somewhat superficial. For instance, the discussion on why people choose familiar places could be expanded with more specific examples of the psychological comfort involved. Because the response is under-length, the development of ideas is restricted, preventing it from reaching a higher band score. To improve, you must expand your supporting arguments with more detailed explanations and personal examples to meet the word count requirement.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, with an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. There is a clear progression of ideas, moving from the benefits of familiarity to the benefits of novelty. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and occasionally inaccurate, such as the transition 'In India, every state have their own culture'. Some sentences feel disjointed, and the flow between ideas could be smoother. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and phrases (e.g., 'consequently', 'furthermore', 'in contrast') to connect your sentences and ideas more naturally.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary used is generally adequate for the task, but it lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. There are several instances of awkward phrasing and incorrect word choices, such as 'fond of explore variety' instead of 'fond of exploring variety' and 'various species' when you likely meant 'various spices'. The vocabulary is somewhat repetitive, and there is a lack of less common lexical items. To improve, try to incorporate more precise vocabulary related to the topic, such as 'comfort zone', 'cultural immersion', or 'predictability', and pay closer attention to word forms and collocations.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('other wants', 'every state have'), incorrect verb forms ('where they were stayed'), and missing articles. While the meaning is generally clear, these persistent errors in basic grammar prevent the writing from being considered accurate. To improve, focus on mastering subject-verb agreement and verb tense consistency. Proofreading your work specifically for these common errors will help you achieve a higher level of accuracy.
