Student answer (Band 7.0)
Some people believe it is a good idea to try different things in life to experience thrill and adventure, whereas others are so relaxed, they kept on doing the same things over and over again in their life. I reckon, people should try different things to feel lively in their life.
To start with, why do people choose to do familiar things in their life? The first and foremost reason could be comfort. To delineate, sometimes people feel so comfortable around the things they have in their life. In addition, if might not have enough drive to pursue or to try something new which they might have not tried it before. Thus, if they could be put in some awkward or uncomfortable situation, they would choose to get away or give up rather than try. The second would be introvert nature. To explain, so many people have introvert nature where they do not connect themselves with new faces. Therefore, having this nature could lead them to the isolation where they limit themselves to go out and visit new places or different restaurants to try new foods.
To other side, there are so many people who always thrive to try different things. The prominent reason could be thrill or adventure. To explain, so many people have a hunger to try different things to find thrill in their life. For instance, many people do bungee jumping or climb mountains, or try foods regardless of their taste. The second reason could be collecting memories. To elaborate, many people like to collect memories for life, as they believe they might not get a time again to try these sorts of things. Hence, they try it as it may be the last day of their life.
To wrap up, yes, as a human everyone feels comfortable with the routine or familiar things. However, in my opinion people should not limit, and they should try different and new things to live the life to fullest.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both attitudes and providing a clear personal opinion. The ideas are relevant and logically grouped into paragraphs. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. For example, the explanation of why people prefer familiar things relies on generalisations about 'introvert nature' and 'comfort' without deep exploration. To reach a higher band, you should provide more specific, nuanced examples or elaborate further on the implications of these attitudes. The position is clear throughout, but the supporting arguments could be more thoroughly extended to demonstrate a more sophisticated level of critical thinking.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay is logically organised with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Each paragraph has a central theme. You use cohesive devices such as 'To start with', 'In addition', and 'To other side' to guide the reader. However, some of these transitions feel slightly mechanical or unnatural, such as 'To other side' (which should be 'On the other hand'). Additionally, the referencing is occasionally imprecise, such as in the sentence 'if might not have enough drive', where the subject is missing. Improving the variety and natural flow of your linking words will help you achieve a higher score.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'delineate', 'prominent', and 'thrive'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation. For instance, 'feel lively in their life' is slightly unnatural, and 'introvert nature' should be 'introverted nature'. You also use 'to' instead of 'in' in phrases like 'get a time again'. While your vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning clearly, you need to use less common lexical items with more precision and better awareness of natural collocations to move into the higher bands.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you attempt complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors, such as 'they kept on doing' (should be 'keep on doing'), 'if might not have' (missing subject), and 'try it as it may be the last day of their life' (slightly awkward phrasing). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are minor errors in sentence construction that occasionally disrupt the flow. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and ensuring that your complex sentences are grammatically sound and clearly structured.
