Student answer (Band 6.0)

Some people are of the opinion that they like to do explore new things and others believe that they like to spend their daily routine itself. In this essay I will be discuss both views and state my own opinion.

Firstly, different people have different mindset. Some individuals will like to find new things and enjoy their moments because they think that we only have 1 life. So, we must explore every things and experience. for instance there is an Indian journalist named George who completed travelling thirty two countries alone and he is doing a tv channel to share the experience and memory. Another reason is that the people like to get into record books by doing or breaking the current records to reach their name for history.

On the other hand, the people who spend time on the same tasks believe that they are afraid of the danger behind new things or tasks they perform or doing. Like trying different dishes from different countries will cause allergic actions or any health related issues. Moreover, people do not have time to do new things because of the tight life schedule. Most of them are busy with their family and job. For example, Most of the middle class people are like this because of financial problems. So they are running to earn money for the day today life.

I believe that, we should try different things in over life and find our own passion to enjoy every bit of moment in our life.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The essay addresses both sides of the prompt and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention the desire to explore and the fear of the unknown, the arguments lack depth and specific analysis. For instance, the example of the Indian journalist is a bit disconnected from the broader argument about why people choose to explore. To improve, ensure that your supporting points directly explain the 'why' behind these attitudes rather than just listing examples. The conclusion is present but very brief, which limits the overall impact of your argument.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. You use basic cohesive devices like 'Firstly', 'On the other hand', and 'Moreover' to transition between ideas. However, the flow within paragraphs is sometimes mechanical, and some sentences feel disjointed. For example, the transition between the idea of 'breaking records' and the previous point about 'travelling' is abrupt. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider variety of cohesive devices and ensure that the logical progression between sentences is smoother and more natural.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary used is adequate for the task but remains quite basic. You rely on simple phrases like 'do explore new things' and 'spend their daily routine'. There are also some awkward collocations, such as 'allergic actions' (instead of 'allergic reactions') and 'day today life' (instead of 'day-to-day life'). To improve, try to incorporate more precise vocabulary related to the topic, such as 'novelty', 'monotony', 'comfort zone', or 'adventurous spirit'. Expanding your range of synonyms will help you express your ideas with greater sophistication and clarity.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation that occasionally hinder the flow. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'people... like to spend their daily routine itself'), article usage, and awkward phrasing (e.g., 'he is doing a tv channel'). While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are noticeable throughout the text. To improve, focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy, particularly with verb tenses and prepositions, and practice constructing more complex sentences with correct subordination.
