Student answer (Band 6.0)

In today's era, people have a interest to explore and visit different types of places and foods. But some pupil prefer to stay in one place and be familiar with few things. Both points have several reasons and examples which are stated in below paragraphs before forming my opinion.

To begin with, there are a plethora of reasons why people just want to be limit and familiar with few things. The primary one is most of the people looking for comfortability in every place and activity so because of that they do not want to visit other place despite aware about the benefits of that activity. Secondly, gain experience and knowledge from different place do not act as a enjoyable activity for some individuals because they do not have a interest in those events due to containing a lot of difficulties. For example going abroad as a international student offer a number of activities and chance to gain and learn new skills and experience for learners but it also have very difficult situations which required very hard work.

On the other hand, through visiting a new places and try new food items have several positive sides which cannot be overlooked. Although with travelling new location and country need lot of time for preparation, it is also very helpfull to increase knowledge about the other cultures and religion after spending time there. No doubt that activity is also beneficial for businessmen since by visiting several markets and historical places they get new ideas for their businesses and their creativity will be improved.

In conclusion, I would like to retirate my opinion in the favour of first stated notion as through visiting new and different places people have a chance to improve their knowledge and it also helpful to get more ideas for their business.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a clear personal opinion in the conclusion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the explanation of why people prefer familiarity relies on vague concepts like 'comfortability' and 'difficulties' without providing concrete, well-developed examples. The discussion on the benefits of trying new things is also quite general. To reach a higher band, you should expand your points with more specific illustrations or logical reasoning. The conclusion is a bit contradictory, as you state you are in favor of the 'first stated notion' (familiarity), but your reasoning in the final sentence actually supports the second notion (trying new things).

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. You use some cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'Secondly', and 'On the other hand' to signal transitions. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly inaccurate, such as 'stated in below paragraphs'. Additionally, the referencing is occasionally unclear, and the flow between sentences could be smoother. The logical progression is present, but the connection between the ideas within the paragraphs could be strengthened to ensure that each point leads naturally to the next.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it lacks the precision and range required for higher bands. There are several instances of awkward word choices or incorrect collocations, such as 'have a interest' instead of 'have an interest', 'be limit' instead of 'be limited', and 'retirate' (a spelling error for reiterate). You rely on basic vocabulary and struggle to use less common lexical items effectively. To improve, focus on learning collocations and ensuring that your word forms (nouns, verbs, adjectives) are used correctly in context.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('some pupil prefer'), article usage ('a interest', 'a international student'), and prepositional errors ('in the favour of'). While the meaning is generally clear, these persistent errors in basic grammar prevent the text from reaching a higher band. You should focus on proofreading for subject-verb agreement and ensuring that articles and prepositions are used correctly. Increasing your control over complex sentence structures will also help improve your score.
