Student answer (Band 5.5)

While it has been suggested that visiting same place and having same meal again and again is more comfortable rather than exploring new places, I firmly agree that selecting a new destination for every trip and trying unfamiliar food will provide ..........

Explore a new culture is the primary reason to visit a country, as one can know about tradition and native language of that particular place. This learning experience is unique, which no one can learn or gain it from reading books related tourism or of any country. Take Italy, for example, the architectural beauty and culture of Greece and Rome can only be feel by visiting those treasures on the earth. Therefore, it is clear that exploring different countries will broaden the horizon of knowledge of people.

Individuals who do not want to cross their comfort zone, prefer to perform same tasks again and again. For them visiting a new tourist attraction might be more challenging. Language, for example, as every country have there own language, some people are not communicate effectively due to language barrier, which is one of the main reason some individuals prefer to visit familiar place again and again.

From my point of view, visiting new country not only help to learn about new culture.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, which significantly impacts the development of ideas. While you address both attitudes and state a position, the essay is incomplete, ending abruptly in the final paragraph. The arguments regarding the benefits of new experiences and the reasons for staying within a comfort zone are introduced but remain underdeveloped due to the lack of length. To improve, you must ensure all parts of the prompt are fully explored and that the essay reaches the required length to allow for a comprehensive discussion and a clear, well-supported conclusion.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay shows some logical organization, with separate paragraphs for the two viewpoints. However, the progression of ideas is hindered by the incomplete nature of the text. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Therefore' and 'For example', but the overall flow is disrupted by the abrupt ending. Paragraphing is present, but the final paragraph is a mere sentence fragment, which prevents a coherent conclusion. To improve, ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence and that ideas are linked smoothly throughout the entire response, leading to a fully realized conclusion.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for a higher band. You use some relevant terms like 'architectural beauty', 'comfort zone', and 'language barrier', but there are instances of awkward phrasing, such as 'no one can learn or gain it from reading books related tourism'. There are also minor errors in word choice and collocation. To improve, focus on using more sophisticated vocabulary and ensuring that words are used in their correct grammatical context. Expanding your range of collocations will help you express your ideas more naturally.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'visiting same place', 'every country have there own language', and 'some people are not communicate effectively'. These errors in subject-verb agreement, articles, and verb forms are noticeable throughout the text. While the meaning is generally understandable, the frequency of these errors limits the score. To improve, focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy, specifically targeting article usage, verb tense consistency, and subject-verb agreement.
