Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both attitudes and providing a personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat uneven. The arguments regarding why people prefer familiarity—such as the fear of war or aviation issues—are slightly tangential and not fully linked to the core concept of 'familiarity' versus 'novelty'. While the position is clear, the supporting points lack depth and could be better articulated to fully satisfy the requirements of a higher band. The conclusion is also quite brief and does not fully synthesize the points discussed.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'To commence', 'Apart from this', and 'On the other hand', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions are slightly mechanical or awkward, such as 'Henceforth, some are not risk taker'. Additionally, some referencing is unclear, and the flow between sentences occasionally feels disjointed due to grammatical errors. Overall, the structure is sufficient to follow the argument, but it lacks the sophisticated, natural flow required for a higher band.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it is often imprecise or used incorrectly. For example, 'ingesting new palate' is an unnatural collocation, and 'depriving the stress level' is incorrect usage. There are attempts to use more academic vocabulary, such as 'contemporary era' and 'elucidated', but these are sometimes used in contexts that feel slightly forced. To improve, the student should focus on learning natural collocations and ensuring that words are used in their correct grammatical form.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'one can afraid'), article usage, and awkward phrasing (e.g., 'individuals are more found to explore'). While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of errors in basic sentence construction prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. More attention to verb forms and sentence structure is necessary to improve accuracy.
