Student answer (Band 6.0)

In the contemporary era, a growing number of individauls are never hesitate to try several new things like exploring different places and sorts of international cuisine however some opposite group claims that we should consume only things that we are familiar with. This essay will discuss both the views before explaning why I think that we should not alter things.

The most obvious reason for trying new items is new experience and learning. If we visit any historical place, we can glean enormous knowledge about it. There are a plethora of amazing food dishes available in the world, so we should consume those food because it escalates our taste and ameliorates our well-being. For example, in many countries, a regime provides fair price on international food items. Thus, everyone can get opportunity to try those items.

In contrast, many individuals believe that exploring different meals in our daily basis is damage your wallet. These days, majority of food items are extremely expensive and sometime we do not have any awareness about it taste, so it is quite challenging for people to invest their money on those goods. In such cases, numerous individuals do not alter their daily meals because of it cost.

In my perspective, we should not change certian things that we are extremely fimiliar with. Visiting various places requires tremendous amount of money and time. Some individuals are extremely busy with workload. Therefore, they do not prefer to visit unknown places.

To sum up, there is a debate going on whether to explore new things or individuals should stick with their familiar things. I think trying new things have negative effect in terms of finance.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the argument regarding the financial burden of trying new things is mentioned, but the reasoning remains superficial. The essay would benefit from more detailed examples to support the claims. While the position is consistent, the explanation for why one should not 'alter things' is not fully explored, leading to a slightly repetitive conclusion. Overall, the task is addressed, but the depth of analysis is more characteristic of a Band 6 level.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organised into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the progression of ideas. Cohesive devices such as 'In contrast', 'For example', and 'To sum up' are used to link sentences and paragraphs. However, some transitions feel mechanical, and there are occasional issues with referencing, such as the use of 'it' when referring to plural nouns (e.g., 'because of it cost'). Despite these minor issues, the logical flow is maintained throughout the response, and the paragraphing is appropriate for the task.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, with some attempts at using more sophisticated items like 'plethora', 'ameliorates', and 'contemporary era'. However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'never hesitate to try' (should be 'do not hesitate'), 'regime provides fair price' (likely meant 'government provides subsidies'), and 'damage your wallet' (a slightly informal idiom). Spelling errors like 'individauls', 'explaning', 'certian', and 'fimiliar' also occur, which slightly detracts from the overall quality.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the writer attempts complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement and article usage (e.g., 'some opposite group claims', 'consume those food', 'on our daily basis'). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are errors in sentence construction that occasionally impede the flow. The control of grammar is inconsistent, and while the meaning is usually clear, the frequency of errors prevents the response from reaching a higher band.
