Student answer (Band 6.0)

Nowadays, numerous people are interesting to try new adventures in their life while, the others enjoy their life keeping the same. In this essay, I will discuss both views before giving my opinion.

One the one hand, some people enjoy their life by visiting new places and getting every time a new experience. However, meeting a variety of people at different place improves a person self confidence. For instance, if a person plan for a trip every time in a new city then he definitely get a chance to learn more about the different cultures, languages and traditional cuisine of that area.

On the other hand, there are some people who are not willing to try new food or new place due to several reasons. Firstly, they can not bear the expenses of every holiday destination because if they do not like it then they considered it a total wastage of money. Secondly, they are not comfortable to adjust in every type of environment. Lastly, Some people are allergic to certain type of ingredients so, they avoid to try new dishes. For instance, some group of people are more satisfied when they eat simple and routine food because their health do not allow them to eat every kind of meal.

In my opinion, it is very important to take new risks and adventures to bring excitement and curiosity in life. Nevertheless, new experiences are not only beneficial for a person physical well being but also a person can learn more about the world when he leave his comfort zone.

Moreover, when we explore new thing it give us a sense of pleasure and fun.

In a nutshell, it depends on a person's choice and wish whether he enjoy his life by same routine or make his life more enjoyable by exploring the world.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the prompt by discussing both attitudes and providing a clear personal opinion. The ideas are relevant, such as the benefits of cultural exposure versus the practical constraints of budget and health. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited. For example, the point about 'self-confidence' is mentioned but not fully explained or linked back to the broader context of the essay. The conclusion is a bit repetitive and does not fully synthesize the arguments presented. To reach a higher band, you should aim to provide more depth in your supporting examples and ensure your position is consistently maintained throughout the essay.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand,' 'On the other hand,' 'Firstly,' and 'In a nutshell' to guide the reader. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical, and there are instances where the flow between sentences is slightly disjointed. For example, the transition between the discussion of new experiences and the conclusion could be smoother. Additionally, some referencing is slightly unclear, such as the use of 'they' in the second paragraph, which could refer to either the people or the destinations. Improving the variety of linking words would enhance the overall flow.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary used is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to express your ideas clearly. You use some topic-specific vocabulary like 'traditional cuisine,' 'comfort zone,' and 'physical well-being.' However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'interesting to try' (should be 'interested in trying') and 'every time a new experience' (should be 'a new experience every time'). The range of vocabulary is sufficient to communicate, but it lacks the precision and flexibility required for higher bands. Focusing on more natural collocations and avoiding repetitive phrasing would help improve your score in this area.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally distract the reader. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'their health do not allow,' 'it give us'), article usage, and preposition errors (e.g., 'adjust in every type'). There are also some awkward phrasings, such as 'getting every time a new experience.' While these errors do not prevent communication, they are persistent throughout the text. To improve, focus on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and ensuring that complex sentences are constructed with greater accuracy.
