Student answer (Band 6.0)

Several people believes that one should explore the world by visiting new places and trying different culture foods, whereas part of community are of the opinion that one should try the familiar things in which one is comfortable to use the leisure time of the life effectively. These both the opinions are being discussed in the ensuing paragraphs with suitable examples, and I will share my opinion as well.

The former arguement believes in gathering exciting and adventureous moments in the life. This means that people should always try to learn new things in life whenever one gets an opportunity. Moreover, One should not worry about the outcome of the experience. If trying new food items and new places doesnt suits one then one should take a lesson from it and try to experiments on other stuff. For instance, Canadian people tried Indian cuisines, but the response after tasting the spicy dishes was not appropriate, therefore they begin to explore the other country's food item.

The other group of people beileves in playing safe in the game of life. By this it means that if one is aware about the taste of food and the preference of the places then it is futile to welcome new experience in life. Additionally, they also believes that one should be wise enough in utilizing the limited free holiday time of life which is availbale after the work life.

In conclusion, I believe that it depends upon the individual's choices and risk taking capabilities. It is a fact that try new things will not offer always a mesmerizing experience, and life offers a short window for experiences. Therfroe, one should be wise enough on using this golden opportunity which life offers.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a clear personal opinion in the conclusion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the example regarding Canadians and Indian cuisine is vague and lacks a clear connection to the broader argument about risk-taking. While the prompt is addressed, the supporting arguments could be more thoroughly extended to reach a higher band. The position is consistent, but the explanation of why one might prefer familiarity could be more nuanced to demonstrate a deeper understanding of the topic.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organised into logical paragraphs, with an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Moreover', 'For instance', and 'In conclusion', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and there are instances where the flow is interrupted by awkward phrasing, such as 'These both the opinions are being discussed'. While the overall progression is clear, the use of referencing could be more precise to improve the logical flow between sentences.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it lacks the precision and variety required for a higher band. There are several instances of awkward word choices or collocations, such as 'culture foods' instead of 'cultural cuisines' and 'playing safe in the game of life', which sounds slightly unnatural. Additionally, there are minor spelling errors like 'arguement', 'adventureous', and 'availbale'. While the meaning is always clear, the range of vocabulary is somewhat limited and relies on basic descriptors rather than more sophisticated or precise terminology.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that affect the quality of the writing. Subject-verb agreement is a recurring issue, for example, 'Several people believes' and 'they also believes'. There are also errors in article usage and prepositional phrases, such as 'try new things' instead of 'trying new things' and 'on using' instead of 'in using'. While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding the message, they are frequent enough to indicate a lack of control over complex structures.
