Student answer (Band 6.0)

Preferences are what makes people different from each other. These vary in all types of interests such as choices and hobbies. Many love to do new adventures whereas others are more centered to enjoy the same things. However the main goal is to stay indulgent and happy despite the type of doing things.

Initially, some people are very curious to explore new places and things in every field like eating and entertainment. This is because they like to have different experiences every time. For instance, if a person choses new location for vacation every time, it reflects that the person loves know about new culture, place, people and wants to expand their knowledge. Hence, it helps people with satisfying their hunger of gaining new experiences and wisdom.

On the contrary, rest of the population is very loyal with their choices because this is their way of seeking comfort from their hobbies. To demonstrate, some folks eat the same breakfast everyday only because they find comfort and peace with their choice. It remind them that they do not have to experiment with new things every morning. As a result, having same choice in the things shows that people love do the same things daily due to their comfort seeking nature.

Although experiencing different things ands places enhance knowledge and gives new chances of developing new hobbies, yet it is undeniable that comfort lies in doing the same things everyday for some. The true objective is to look for happiness and contentment, which can be found in both ways.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a clear personal opinion in the conclusion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. For instance, the explanation of why people prefer familiar things is limited to the example of breakfast, which lacks depth. To reach a higher band, you should provide more substantial reasoning or broader examples to support your points. While the task is addressed, the ideas are not fully extended, which limits the score to a 6.0.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Initially', 'On the contrary', and 'Although', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions feel a bit mechanical, and the referencing is occasionally slightly awkward, such as in the phrase 'the type of doing things'. Improving the variety and natural flow of your linking words would enhance the overall coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, such as 'curious', 'contentment', and 'undeniable'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'stay indulgent' (which is used incorrectly here) and 'loyal with their choices' (should be 'loyal to'). Additionally, there is some repetition of basic words like 'things' and 'choices'. To improve, try to use more precise synonyms and pay closer attention to how words collocate naturally in English.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors, such as 'choses' (should be 'chooses'), 'love know' (should be 'love to know'), 'remind them' (should be 'reminds them'), and 'love do' (should be 'love to do'). These errors occur frequently enough to be noticeable but do not prevent the reader from understanding your message. Increasing your control over subject-verb agreement and infinitive structures will help you achieve a higher band.
