Student answer (Band 6.0)
It is often said that most people love to try new things such as visit new places and eat different types of food while others just keep the things simple and familiar. This essay will discuss both attitudes, for example, visiting new places give people extra joy and relaxation, and those who prefer doing things they are familiar with gives comfort and quality time. Finally, I will give my own opinion that going to various places can be beneficial for people as well.
Firstly, there are lots of people who want to explore various places and try their local foods which gives them certain kind of pleasure and happiness. By going to different places, one can enjoy the surroundings, nature, and wide range of food which they haven't seen and ate in their life due to this they can feel happy and relax for a while. For example, recent studies by Fox News shows that almost 60% of people in Canada leave their place to visit and explore other places once in a month because they wanted to try new stuffs.
Secondly, some people don't like to outings and try new foods, they are just happy with their own life doing the same thing and eating same food everyday. It is because they feel more comfortable and they don't want to waste their time and money to try new stuffs and visit new places. For instance, a good amount of money would spend if they want to go for a fancy resturant or new places which they would not recommend to do.
In conclusion, by visiting new places and trying new foods can be useful for people because in this hectic world people can get some refreshment and recharge through new experiences.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt by discussing both attitudes and providing a personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the argument for those who prefer familiarity is brief and relies on a somewhat repetitive explanation regarding money and time. The personal opinion is stated in the introduction but is not fully integrated or expanded upon in the conclusion, which remains quite short. To reach a higher band, you should aim to provide more nuanced reasons and detailed examples for both sides of the argument, ensuring that your personal stance is clearly woven throughout the essay rather than just mentioned at the start.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the progression of ideas. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'Firstly', 'Secondly', and 'In conclusion' to signal the structure. However, the transition between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and the use of referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the phrase 'due to this they can feel happy'. The logical flow within paragraphs could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring that each sentence builds more naturally upon the previous one. The paragraphing is appropriate, but the overall cohesion is somewhat simplistic.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary used is generally adequate for the task, but it lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. You rely on repetitive phrasing, such as 'new things', 'new places', and 'new stuffs' (note that 'stuff' is an uncountable noun and should not be pluralized). There are also some awkward collocations, such as 'keep the things simple' and 'don't like to outings'. To improve, try to incorporate more sophisticated synonyms and idiomatic expressions related to the topic of travel, lifestyle, and personal preferences, while paying closer attention to word forms and uncountable nouns.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally distract the reader. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('visiting new places give', 'those who prefer... gives'), incorrect verb forms ('haven't seen and ate'), and awkward phrasing ('a good amount of money would spend'). Punctuation is generally functional, but the sentence construction often feels slightly unnatural. To improve, focus on mastering subject-verb agreement and the correct use of passive voice, and aim to reduce the frequency of basic grammatical slips.
