Student answer (Band 6.5)

A change is an indispensable part of the modern life. Thus, few individuals believe that experiences that are new play a significant role rather than the usual things which we are familiar with. I will discuss the both aspects along with the feasible causes and provide opinion in the upcoming paragraphs.

On one hand, things that are new are fascinating to people because of following reasons. Firstly, this change will lead to global harmony among people. As people have keen interest in in exploring the new culture and people from different countries, it will amplify the global trade and travel. For instance, visit to countries like India which has wide range of culture, architecture, language, religion, food and more. Above change leads to stronger trade relation and more exchange of technology. Secondly, It will not restrict people to the culture and food of their own country as they will get options of exploring new culture and people from different parts of world. Further, person can also learn from them and bring those culture to their home country such as festival named as "Diwali" from India has become public holiday for its celebration in various countries.

On the other hand, few are scared of trying something new because of following causes. First and foremost is the fear of wasting either time or money. As time and money are essential parts of life, few of them are feared of losing them. For example, trying food in brand new cafe far from your place. If you find your experience disappointing, it will waste both time and money. However, it does not mean that people should always limit them to their familiar cafes.

To conclude, from above points I believe that trying unique are absolutely best options rather than limiting yourself to familiar things. Exploring new culture, food, people leads to world development and world becomes global village. Additionally, people will get options of food and places rather than one culture or food.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both attitudes and providing a clear personal opinion. The ideas are relevant, such as the benefits of cultural exchange and the fear of wasting resources. However, the development is somewhat uneven. The argument regarding 'global harmony' is a bit broad and could be better supported with more specific, logical links. The conclusion clearly states your position, which is a strength. To reach a higher band, ensure that each point is fully extended with more nuanced reasoning rather than relying on general statements.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the two viewpoints. Cohesive devices such as 'On one hand,' 'Firstly,' and 'In conclusion' are used to guide the reader. However, there are some instances of mechanical or slightly awkward transitions, such as 'from above points I believe.' The referencing is generally clear, though some sentences feel slightly disjointed due to minor errors in article usage and sentence structure. Overall, the progression of ideas is easy to follow.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'indispensable,' 'fascinating,' and 'disappointing.' There are some attempts at less common vocabulary, but there are also instances of word-choice errors and awkward collocations, such as 'few individuals believe' (should be 'some') and 'trying unique are absolutely best options' (should be 'trying unique things is the best option'). While these errors do not impede communication, they indicate a need for more precise control over word forms and collocations to reach a higher band.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you attempt complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('the modern life' should be 'modern life'), pluralization, and subject-verb agreement ('few of them are feared' should be 'some fear'). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are minor slips throughout. The majority of sentences are understandable, but the frequency of these small errors prevents the writing from being considered highly accurate. Focusing on proofreading for basic grammatical consistency would significantly improve your score.
