Student answer (Band 6.0)
Preference is personal concept nobody can change it as some people prefer to take a chance by trying new things in their life while others want to be stick to their knowledge and experiences. This essay will throw the light on both the aspects and concluded with my opinion.
Firstly the one of try something different wants to bring certain excitement in their life as they want to get rid of their daily routine. for example visiting certain place where they never ever go might be so interesting, to gather the correct information one need to visit that location. One can gain a lot of knowledge and can meet the people living over there which can help them to know about their culture and many more. Such type of people prefer to perform everything in practical. They eat food that they have never tried before, if they like it they make the same dish at home as well. Some of them believe that they get their life only once so they want to live according to their own by trying everything what they can do.
However, people who restrict themselves might be fearful of trying new things as they felt it might risky for them. To exemplify the person who is afraid of height cannot able to perform bungee in his life. Not only this they might be bounded my their religion or society to not try something new. To illustrate the Brahmans are not allowed to eat meat , there religion does not allow them to try it. It is also among some who are already happy with their life they do not want something new in their life as they think that may spoil their happy life.
According me one should definitely try the new things if there is no restriction from their culture, religion as they bring a lot of excitement in once life.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both sides of the prompt and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. For instance, the explanation of why people prefer familiar routines is limited to fear and religious restrictions, which is a narrow interpretation. The conclusion is also quite brief and lacks a summary of the main points discussed. To improve, you should aim to expand on your arguments with more nuanced reasoning rather than relying on simple examples. The position is clear, but the overall depth of the response is limited, which prevents it from reaching a higher band.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. For example, 'Firstly the one of try something different' is grammatically awkward and lacks a smooth transition. There is also a lack of variety in linking words, with some sentences feeling disjointed. While the progression of ideas is generally clear, the internal cohesion within paragraphs could be improved by using a wider range of referencing and substitution to avoid repetitive phrasing. Paragraphing is present, but the transitions between ideas could be more sophisticated.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks the precision and range required for higher bands. You rely on basic phrasing such as 'perform everything in practical' and 'get their life only once', which are unnatural collocations. There are also instances of word-choice errors, such as 'throw the light on' (should be 'shed light on') and 'bounded my their religion' (should be 'bound by their religion'). While the meaning is generally clear, the lack of flexibility and the presence of errors in word formation and collocation limit the score in this criterion.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Examples include 'cannot able to perform' (should be 'is unable to perform'), 'According me' (should be 'In my opinion'), and 'they felt it might risky' (should be 'they feel it might be risky'). Subject-verb agreement and preposition usage are inconsistent. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to be noticeable. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction and ensuring consistent tense usage, as well as refining the use of modal verbs.
