Student answer (Band 5.5)

Many people are interested to try different culture food and new things, and always ready to visit new places, while others do not like to do anything unique in their life. In my opinion, trying new things, food and visiting to new places give them more pleasure instead of following similar routine things.

One of the main reasons why some people prefer to do something new in their life is that they want to explore new experiences. When people try other culture food, their traditions and unique lifestyle, then they get opportunities to learn new experience in their life instead of following the same routine in daily life, resulting in giving them pleasure by doing something new along with new techniques.

As per others, they believe that by doing same things everyday makes feel the routine more comfortable.

If people do the same things, they can not only become expert in particular skill, such as cooking, driving. These people do not like take risks by trying new things in their life, allowing them to focus on their current things.

In my opinion, by trying new things, new food and visiting to new places not only bring a adventure in their life. but also they get relaxation from their routine, which helps them to run away their feeling of getting bore form hectic lifestyle. This adventure helps them to learn about new culture, and they become adventure by nature.

To sum up, while trying other cultural things like food and visiting to places give them relaxation and pleasure, others do not like any ad

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat repetitive and lacks depth. For instance, the argument for routine is limited to 'becoming an expert' and 'comfort,' which could have been expanded with more specific examples. The conclusion is incomplete, cutting off mid-sentence, which impacts the overall task completion. To improve, ensure that each body paragraph introduces a distinct, well-supported point and that the conclusion effectively synthesizes the main arguments without being truncated.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the logical progression is occasionally hindered by awkward phrasing and repetitive sentence structures. While some cohesive devices are used, such as 'One of the main reasons' and 'To sum up,' they are sometimes used mechanically. The referencing is occasionally unclear, and the abrupt ending of the final paragraph significantly disrupts the flow of the text. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensure that each paragraph transitions smoothly into the next.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks precision and variety. There is a reliance on basic terms like 'things,' 'new,' and 'good.' Phrases such as 'run away their feeling of getting bore' are non-idiomatic and awkward. While the student attempts to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'hectic lifestyle' and 'traditions,' the overall range is limited. To improve, focus on learning collocations and more sophisticated synonyms to avoid repetition and express ideas with greater clarity and nuance.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede readability. Issues include missing articles ('visit new places'), incorrect verb forms ('interested to try'), and awkward sentence construction ('As per others, they believe that by doing same things everyday makes feel the routine more comfortable'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with sentence fragments and missing commas. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of prepositions and articles.
