Student answer (Band 6.5)
Majority of the individuals enjoy taking part in new activities such as trying different cuisines and visiting other countries. While, others like to stick with their known activities. I am also of one of those people who are always excited to explore new things rather than repeating things. In this essay, I will discuss both. sides of this trend and give my opinion.
To begin with, human mind is full of curiosity, they love to explore new things and curiosity is the root of development. Many individuals try new things to feed their curiosity, especially the youngsters. They fulfil their curiosity by trying various dishes from different nations and visit mysterious places. I believe it is a great way gain knowledge in real world. For Example, when a person visits a country for the first time he meet the natives and often try their traditional food, which explains a lot about the rich cultural norms and tradition of a country. Apart from this, when a person visit different tourists places, others also get a chance to know about the place through social media. This inspire others to visit the country, which will attract tourists to the country and eventually, contribute in the economy.
On the other hand, some people like to repeat same food and outings, because they are already familiar with the taste of the dish, so they prefer to try same dish instead of wasting their money on something they might not like. Moreover, people love to visit same places due to increasing cost of travel as many places require visa to get entry in the country, which hard to afford for a person with average income. So that is why individuals like to visiting old places repeatedly to stay under budget while still enjoying their quality time their family.
In my opinion, trying various activities and food items helps a person to learn great things in life. Which is extremely beneficial for mental growth. However, there is nothing bad in sticking to your old taste and places, if still give you happiness at your comfort level. But government should make famous tourist places visa free or slightly affordable so that a middle category person can also experience the tour to various nations.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both attitudes and providing a clear personal opinion. The ideas are relevant, though some development is slightly repetitive. For instance, the argument regarding the economic benefits of tourism is a bit tangential to the core topic of personal preference for novelty versus familiarity. The position is consistent throughout the essay, and the conclusion effectively synthesizes the two viewpoints. To reach a higher band, ensure that each body paragraph focuses strictly on the psychological or practical reasons behind the attitudes rather than drifting into broader societal impacts like government policy.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear central theme. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'To begin with,' 'Apart from this,' and 'On the other hand,' which help guide the reader. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and there are minor issues with referencing, such as the use of 'they' in the first paragraph, which lacks a clear antecedent. The progression of ideas is generally smooth, but the flow could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring that sentences within paragraphs are more tightly connected to the main topic sentence.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express their ideas clearly. There are attempts to use less common vocabulary, such as 'mysterious places' and 'cultural norms,' but some word choices are slightly imprecise or unnatural, such as 'middle category person' instead of 'middle-income individual.' There are also minor errors in collocation, like 'contribute in the economy' (should be 'to'). While the range is sufficient to communicate meaning effectively, it lacks the flexibility and precision required for a higher band score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('the human mind,' 'the real world'), subject-verb agreement ('he meet the natives'), and sentence fragments ('Which is extremely beneficial for mental growth'). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are some awkward phrasings that hinder the overall fluency. To improve, the writer should focus on proofreading for basic errors like missing articles and ensuring that complex sentences are constructed with greater accuracy.
