Student answer (Band 6.0)

There are an ongoing debate about; some individuals believe into try new things such as exploring traditional villages, doing adventures activities, and trying cuiesne of different culture. Others argue that people satisfied by doing similar things from with they are familiar. In my opinion, although familiar things can be comfortable, trying new things more beneficial overall. This essay will discuss both of views.

On the one hand, one major advantage of trying new activity is that enhance the confidence. people when try new fear activities such bungee jumping, paragliding and river rafting, they become independent and fearless. As a result, they gain more confident and never afraid from any difficulty situations. Moreover, individuals are fond of exploring new cities and cultures as they can meet different culture and learn about them. This is not only enhancing their interpersonal skills but also knowledge about different languages. For example, people travel to overseas for exploring new country and meet with different culture and people. Therefore, Individuals become more fearless, stressless and independent.

On the other hand, some people prefer to live with their familiar things. Because people do not want to step out from their comfort zone. Many individuals feel safe and secure while doing same things. For instance, people prefer to visit only one resturant from where they are familiar. Furthermore, some people are introvert so they afraid from trying new things and meet with other people. As a result, they prefer to do things with they are familiar as they feel more comfortable and secure.

In conclusion, there are several people who prefer to stay in their comfort zone, yet I think that people have willing courage for visiting new places and try different food. Due to this, They can enjoy their life and enhance their knowledge about diferent cultures.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the prompt: it discusses both attitudes toward trying new things versus staying with the familiar and provides a clear personal opinion. The ideas are relevant, such as the benefits of confidence-building versus the comfort of the familiar. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat repetitive and lacks depth. For instance, the argument for trying new things focuses heavily on 'fearless' and 'independent' without exploring the nuance of personal growth or cultural enrichment in greater detail. The position is clear, but the supporting arguments could be more sophisticated to reach a higher band.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. There is an attempt to use cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand', 'On the other hand', 'Moreover', and 'In conclusion'. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly inaccurate, such as the transition 'Because people do not want to step out...' starting a sentence fragment. Referencing is occasionally unclear, and the flow between sentences is sometimes hindered by grammatical errors. Overall, the progression of ideas is coherent, but the management of cohesive devices needs more precision to achieve a higher score.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. There are several instances of awkward word choices and spelling errors, such as 'cuiesne' (cuisine), 'fear activities', and 'stressless'. The student relies on basic vocabulary like 'good', 'new', and 'familiar'. While the meaning is generally clear, the lack of sophisticated collocations and the presence of spelling errors (e.g., 'resturant', 'diferent') limit the score. To improve, the student should focus on learning topic-specific vocabulary and ensuring correct spelling of common words.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede readability. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('There are an ongoing debate'), incorrect preposition usage ('afraid from'), and sentence fragments ('Because people do not want to step out...'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the use of semicolons and commas. While the student attempts complex structures, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar prevents the response from reaching a higher band. More attention to sentence construction and proofreading for basic errors is essential.
