Student answer (Band 6.0)

There is a large section of population who is exploring their lifestyle while, other side of population prefer to keep doing the things they are familiar with. In my opinion doing things out of comfort zone gives real meaning to the life and it keeps a life exciting and fascinating. This essay will explain the both sides of argument with a relevant reasons and examples.

Due to advancement of science and technology everything is accessible and obtainable. People like to explore the things and experiencing what others people are feeling doing that. This might involves lots of time, money physical and emotional effort. For example, In Nepal thousands of young working groups work significantly longer hours, so they can afford the international trips. As a result this keep the motivation of working hard and build never gave up attitude.

On the other hand, other side of people like to do the things which are making them happy. One of the main reasons might be the personal choice. Not all people have same objectives and goals, some like modification while, others want constant life. They might be trying to keep life simple doing the activities what they really like to do and not ready for changes. If they have a variations and alternations in their life, might feel uncomfortable because they are not ready for modifications.

For instance, many schoolchildren are reluctant to change schools during their studies because doing so can cause discomfort and disrupt their sense of continuity.

In conclusion, personal preference and circumstances are major reasons why people want different lifestyle. Exploring and traveling may keep some people happy and gives the sense of achievement or freedom however, other population might have contrasting opinion.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both attitudes and providing a clear personal opinion in the introduction. The ideas are relevant, such as the motivation gained from international travel and the desire for stability in school environments. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the explanation of why people prefer familiar routines could be more deeply explored beyond just 'personal choice.' While the position is clear throughout, the supporting arguments would benefit from more detailed elaboration to reach a higher band. Overall, the task is addressed adequately.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is logically organized into paragraphs, with a clear introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Due to,' 'On the other hand,' and 'For instance,' which help guide the reader. However, some transitions are slightly mechanical, and there are instances where the flow is interrupted by awkward phrasing, such as 'As a result this keep the motivation.' The use of referencing is generally clear, but the overall progression of ideas could be smoother to ensure a more natural flow between sentences.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary used is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to convey their meaning clearly. There are attempts to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'modification,' 'continuity,' and 'reluctant.' However, there are several instances of imprecise word choice and awkward collocations, such as 'exploring their lifestyle' instead of 'exploring new lifestyles' and 'never gave up attitude' instead of 'never-give-up attitude.' The range is sufficient to communicate the main points, but it lacks the precision and flexibility required for a higher band score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the writer attempts complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'population who is exploring,' 'this keep the motivation') and article usage. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with some unnecessary commas and missing articles. While these errors do not impede communication, they are persistent throughout the text. To improve, the writer should focus on mastering basic subject-verb agreement and refining the use of articles and prepositions.
