IELTS Writing Task 2 question

Some people like to try new things, for example, places to visit and types of food. Other people prefer to keep doing things they are familiar with.

Discuss both these attitudes and give your own opinion.

Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

 

Student answer (Band 6.0)

It is really a good way to understand about the culture and traditions of other areas by exploring them. Some individuals like to visit new places and love to try different cuisines, while others do not like to go outside places and enjoy doing things at there comfort Places. I am going to discuss about both of the opinions and then share my own thoughts about it in the upcoming paragraphs.

In support with the first opinion, some people like to explore new places and foods, by this they can get an opportunity to understand the traditions and cultures of other areas. Moreover, they can also enjoy new kind of cuisines.Also by doing this they can teach their children regarding distinct customs and traditions. Their children will get a chance to respect for other locations people, cultures and languages

However, in the support of second opinion. Some people like their old place and food because it helps them and their upcoming generations to stay connected with their roots. Sometimes, the atmosphere of other areas can affect the health. So it is a good way to stay home. Moreover, it can save their money and local vendors and shopkeepers will stay employed and it will not put impact on their business.

Moving on, I am in the favour of first opinion that people to explore new places and also try new foods so they can understand the culture and tradition of other locations too. In addition to this, youngsters should visit new places because in future if they will go to abroad and it will help them to survive in the different world and live happily.

To sum it up, both opinions are correct on their way but I am in the support of first opinion because I also came to Canada as a student and it was quite difficult for me to stay there in starting because I never visited any other place except my town.

However, there are instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'in support with' instead of 'in support of' and 'put impact on' instead of 'have an impact on'. The range is sufficient to communicate, but lacks the precision and natural collocation expected at higher levels.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
