Student answer (Band 6.5)

In recent years, options in sector of food and travelling have expanded rapidly, becoming an integral part of modern world. Although some people are demonstrating their preference towards exploring different things as it provide them a chance to be aware from the new products and services and preventing boredom, where others are always try to stick with the particular things due to having rigid mentality and financial safety. Therefore, this essay will discuss both the views before presenting my opinion.

First and foremost, exploring several things enable individuals to obtain knowledge about different cultures. To illustrate, new country is explored by travellers assist them to fulfill their curiosity regarding new traditions, religions, history and picnic places. Consequently, they are making their knowledge wider by trying new place. In addition to that, new visits enhance the chance of keeping themselves away from the boredom. To elaborate, ordering Indian food every time may feel boring, whereas choosing Turkey food keeps their life exciting and introduce them with new taste and hobbies.

On the other hand, rigid mentality could be a major factor behind this trend as sticking with same things provide flexibility in terms of comfort. To explain, sometimes people are anxious about visiting new place due to uncertain weather conditions, lack of guidance towards particular place and much more, while selecting one place to visit on frequent basis could be benefits them to give comfort zone owing to be aware from every little details of visit. Thus, it encourage sense of not only security but also satisfaction. Moreover, exploring new places involve some expenses in itself such as hotel bookings, guided tours, travelling expenses, and they may not be capable to tolerate costly trips. Thus, financial security is a reason driven by this trend.

In my opinion, people should use the balanced approach. they should try to explore new things which are allowed by their financial status enables them to get to know about nations, otherwise it may not able to be aware from new generation trend.

To conclude, there is a significant reduction in being boring towards similar things and it may escalate knowledge regarding several cultures. Nevertheless, financial security and comfort become the major factor supporting to this trend, and in my perspective, people should explore new things unless they might fall behind from generation.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both attitudes and providing a clear personal opinion. The ideas are relevant and generally well-developed, such as the discussion on cultural knowledge versus financial constraints. However, some arguments are slightly repetitive, and the development of the 'balanced approach' in the conclusion could be more nuanced. The position is consistent throughout the essay, and the main points are supported with examples, though some examples, like 'picnic places', are a bit vague. Overall, the task is fulfilled adequately.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each with a distinct focus. The progression of ideas is generally smooth, and the writer uses a range of cohesive devices such as 'First and foremost', 'On the other hand', and 'To conclude'. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and there are instances where referencing is a bit unclear, such as 'this trend' being used to refer to different concepts. Paragraphing is used appropriately, and the overall structure supports the reader's understanding of the argument.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is sufficient to convey the intended meaning, but it lacks the precision and sophistication required for higher bands. There are some awkward collocations and word choices, such as 'rigid mentality' instead of 'a preference for routine' or 'being boring' instead of 'boredom'. While the student attempts to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'financial security' and 'uncertain weather conditions', the range is somewhat limited. Some errors in word formation, such as 'picnic places' or 'aware from', occur, but they do not significantly impede communication.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the writer attempts complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement ('it provide', 'they should try... enables them'), article usage, and prepositional phrases ('aware from' instead of 'aware of'). Punctuation is generally functional, but some sentences are slightly clunky or run-on. Despite these errors, the meaning remains clear throughout the text. To improve, the student should focus on mastering basic subject-verb agreement and refining the use of complex sentence connectors.
