Student answer (Band 6.0)
Some people like to explore new things such as visiting to new places and trying different types of food while other people prefer sticking to their routine with which they are already familiar. While it entirely depends on choice of individuals and both notions have their own advantages, I believe that a balanced approach would be more appropriate for the given situation.
One the one hand, people who enjoy in exploring the places, locations that they have not experienced before tend to enjoy new experiences more than visiting the already discovered place. These types of people not only get indulged in different types of cultures but it also helps them to explore food varieties of that particular location by eating various kinds of local dishes. Also, it could be because that many people like to experience thrill and take risks by going to new locations where that have not been before. For example, it allows people to create fresh memories with their family or friends.
On the other hand, travelling only to the places and sticking to looped routine with which people are familiar with has its own benefits. As it reduces unexpected risk circumstances that could arise in new places as one is already known to the place and knows about its potential risks. For example, a person could travel to same place with the family because of certain connections and past memories to feel the nostalgia or to remember the actions that he experienced at that particular place.
In my opinion, I firmly believe that following the looped routine and visiting already explored places have some aforementioned benefits and advantages yet people must also try new things as it will help them to face new situations and train them for future if any situation similar to what they experienced arises.
To conclude, although it depends on people about what they want or enjoy yet I also believe that along with regular visits or sticking to familiar routine, a person should also explore new places and situations which will ultimately enhance the person's character.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both attitudes and providing a clear personal opinion. The ideas are relevant, though some development is slightly repetitive. For instance, the discussion on 'looped routines' in the third paragraph echoes the introduction without adding significant new depth. To reach a higher band, ensure that each body paragraph introduces a distinct, well-supported argument rather than restating the premise. The position is consistent throughout, and the conclusion effectively synthesises the two viewpoints while maintaining the writer's stance on a balanced approach.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is logically organised with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the two viewpoints. Cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand', 'On the other hand', and 'To conclude' are used effectively to guide the reader. However, there are instances where the flow is slightly mechanical, and some referencing is imprecise, such as 'where that have not been before' (referring to locations). Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring smoother transitions between sentences would enhance the overall coherence.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express ideas clearly. There are some attempts at less common collocations, such as 'unexpected risk circumstances' and 'fresh memories'. However, there are also some awkward phrasings, such as 'get indulged in' and 'looped routine', which sound slightly unnatural. While the range is sufficient to convey meaning, the precision of word choice could be improved to avoid repetitive phrasing and to better reflect a more academic or formal tone.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is always clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with prepositions and relative clauses, such as 'enjoy in exploring', 'visiting to new places', and 'where that have not been before'. Punctuation is generally functional, but there are minor errors in sentence construction. The writer shows an ability to use complex structures, but the frequency of errors prevents the response from reaching a higher band. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and prepositional usage would be beneficial.
