Student answer (Band 6.5)

In today's fast - paced world, many individuals hold diverse opinion on a wide range of topics. Some people prefer to explore new things such as places and food whereas other believe to stay in their comfort zone. In my opinion, it is important to analyst both sides of argument before forming a well- definite opinion.

To begin with, there is no doubt trying new things can be either exciting and educational. New travel experiences allow individual to learn about various cultures, expand their knowledge on worldwide level and add unique and adventures experiences in life. Apart from this, restaurants in each province represent their culture by serving variety of food. Hence, people can explore various cultural food and review it. Additionally, it is challenging to visit multiple places as it demand financial and mental stability. To elaborate it, especially in Canada, people used to visit various food court to experience new cultures and they also plan international trip to explore another countries.

On the other, many people prefer a routine and familiarity which should not be ignored. For them, sticky on to known environment and food offers a sense of security and stability. For instance, many uncle in Mumbai travels to Mahabales-hwar every summer, staying in the same hotel and eating at some restaurant. This predictable helps to relax without the stress of unknown which they considers essential during holidays.

To conclude, both exploring new experiences and valuing familiarity have their own benefits. In my opinion, trying new things in moderation can enrich our lives and open the door to unexpected joys.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both attitudes towards new experiences and familiarity, and provides a clear personal opinion. The ideas are relevant, though some development is slightly thin. For instance, the argument regarding financial and mental stability is introduced but not fully explored in relation to the prompt's core theme. The conclusion is clear, but the overall development of ideas could be more nuanced to reach a higher band. The response maintains a consistent position throughout, which is a strength.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each with a distinct focus. Cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'Apart from this', and 'On the other' are used to guide the reader. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and there are minor issues with referencing and flow, such as the sentence 'To elaborate it, especially in Canada...', which feels disconnected from the previous point. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the different viewpoints, contributing to the overall coherence of the piece.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express ideas clearly. There are attempts to use less common vocabulary, such as 'fast-paced' and 'predictable', but there are also instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'analyst' instead of 'analyze', 'well-definite' instead of 'well-defined', and 'sticky on to' instead of 'sticking to'. These errors do not impede communication, but they indicate a need for more precise control over word forms and collocations.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement ('many uncle... travels', 'they considers') and article usage. Some sentences are also slightly awkward, such as 'other believe to stay'. While the writer attempts complex structures, these often contain errors that slightly distract the reader. To improve, the student should focus on basic grammatical accuracy and proofreading for common slips in verb forms and pluralization.
