Student answer (Band 6.0)

nowadays it is a debatable issue whether individuals attempt different things to do or not ,they are just regular things which they are always doing. i will discuss both statements in the following paragraphs.

on the one hand, i believe if people do different things in their life their productivity is enhanced. i explain this view, people often do the same things in their regular life such as work, study and so on, however when they try to do something new like they try new food or they are going to travel. this change not only refreshes their mind it enhances their crusity. they focus more on their work. in addition they also learn new things during this change, for example when school or college makes any trip with students, not only a strong bond between students and teachers but this also encourge students`s knowledge and life experience.

on the other hand, people who think individuals do those things which they daily do such as going to the office and returning home and on weekends just relax at their home. the main reason why they think like that because, on weekdays they are busy in their office or school work and on weekends they have enough time to relax from their work and they want spend this time with their near and dear ones.

to conclude, i believe in change is more beneficial for everyone the main reason is this change is not only good for their mental health but this makes them more productive. furthermore, they learn new things which enhance their knowledge and expreience regarding new things .

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the argument regarding the benefits of trying new things is supported by a brief example of school trips, but the explanation remains superficial. Similarly, the counter-argument regarding the preference for routine is underdeveloped, relying on general statements about office work and relaxing at home. To reach a higher band, you should expand on your points with more detailed reasoning and specific, illustrative examples that clearly link back to the prompt's core theme of 'trying new things' versus 'familiarity'.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organised into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. You use some basic cohesive devices such as 'on the one hand', 'on the other hand', and 'to conclude'. However, the flow between sentences is occasionally mechanical or disjointed. For example, the transition in the second paragraph ('i explain this view, people often do the same things...') lacks a smooth connection. Additionally, some referencing is unclear, such as the phrase 'do those things which they daily do' in the third paragraph, which makes the sentence structure awkward. Improving the variety and precision of your linking words would enhance the overall coherence.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to express your ideas clearly. You use some relevant terms like 'productivity', 'refreshes their mind', and 'mental health'. However, there are instances of imprecise word choice and minor errors, such as 'crusity' (likely meaning curiosity) and 'encourge students`s knowledge'. The range of vocabulary is somewhat limited and repetitive, relying on simple phrasing. To improve, try to incorporate more precise collocations and a wider range of topic-specific vocabulary to demonstrate a more sophisticated command of the language.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow. Common issues include missing articles, incorrect verb forms (e.g., 'when school or college makes any trip'), and punctuation errors, such as the misuse of apostrophes and run-on sentences. While the meaning is generally clear, the high frequency of these errors prevents the writing from reaching a higher band. Focusing on subject-verb agreement, consistent tense usage, and basic sentence punctuation will significantly improve your accuracy.
