Student answer (Band 6.0)
A significant number of people prefer to try latest trends, such as visiting new places and to try variety of foods. This is because it enhances there travelling experience and improves knowledge of various cultures and food. Whereas, others prefer to do things which are familiar to them, for example, spending time with family and playing video games . Although doing familiar things gives a sense of comfort, I personally believe that trying new things improves a person's public confidence and provides exposure to the different things.
To begin with, some people believe that trying latest trends gives them a better experience. Some people like to visit different parts of the world such as deserts, forests and mountains. It gives them exposure of the different cultures, languages and foods. Moreover, people believe that visiting unknown places improves their public fear and provides geographical knowledge. For example, if an individual is visiting mountains for the first time, they would understand about how life is different here, how people manage to stay warm and how they prepare their foods. I personally believe that every individual should experience different sides of the world, it does not only improve tourism but improve knowledge of the people.
Others argue that, doing your familiar activities gives a better feeling. Some people like to stay at their house and do their familiar things such as staying with their family members and playing video games. They love their comfort zone and are having a good time doing such activities. For example, a person who does not want to go out, like to stay at his house and play games on the computer. It provides them a sense of comfort and confidence which they miss while outing with friends. I may not completely agree with this idea because it limits the growth of an individual and created a public fear among people.
In conclusion, although staying at home and playing games gives a person pleasure, I believe exploring latest things such as places improves a person's personality in terms of confidence and knowledge.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both attitudes and providing a clear personal opinion. The ideas are relevant, such as the benefits of cultural exposure versus the comfort of familiar routines. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat repetitive and lacks depth. For instance, the argument regarding 'public fear' is mentioned several times but is not clearly defined or explained in a sophisticated way. To reach a higher band, you should aim to provide more nuanced examples and ensure that your supporting points are distinct rather than restating the same concepts in different words.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. There is a progression of ideas from the introduction to the conclusion. You use some cohesive devices like 'To begin with,' 'Moreover,' and 'In conclusion,' which help guide the reader. However, some transitions feel a bit mechanical or repetitive. Additionally, the referencing is occasionally unclear, such as the use of 'it' in 'it does not only improve tourism but improve knowledge,' where the antecedent is slightly ambiguous. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring smoother transitions between sentences would enhance the flow.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to express your ideas clearly. You use some topic-specific terms like 'geographical knowledge' and 'comfort zone.' However, there are instances of imprecise word choice and minor collocation errors, such as 'try latest trends' (should be 'try the latest trends') and 'public fear' (which is not a standard collocation in this context). To improve, focus on using more precise collocations and expanding your range of vocabulary to avoid repeating words like 'things' and 'improve' throughout the essay.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors that persist throughout the text. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('it does not only improve... but improve'), article usage ('visiting mountains' vs 'visiting the mountains'), and tense inconsistencies ('created a public fear' instead of 'creates'). While these errors do not impede overall communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and article usage will significantly improve your accuracy.
