Student answer (Band 6.5)
Some individuals like to explore new things whether they are places or types of food while other give preference to things they are familiar with. This essay will discuss both views along with my opinion.
On the one hand, there are plenty of reasons behind why people prefer to try new things. Firstly, some people are adventurous by nature. They love to try new things. If we talk about places, some individuals have interest in knowing the history and culture of renowned places. Due to the fact that they always like to visit such locations. Furthermore, social media is a primary reason of trying new things. Social media act as a source of money for some people. They visit new places even abandoned ones just for views and likes. Their income is depends on number of views and comments. For instance, it is often seen that folks post vlogs of attractive destinations for earning. To add to it, some individuals are foodie by nature. They love to try different types of food. Few days back, I came across a reel on instagram where a girl shared her office meal.During her eight hour shift she ate at least six to seven different dishes.
On the other hand, there are few reasons that why people prefer to keep doing comfortable things. Firstly, they do not want to break the monotony. They are happy with their daily basis things. Furthermore, they may be concerned that trying something new could result in wastage of money. For illustration, one of my friends always order the same drink whenever we visit Starbucks. On asking, he mentioned that trying new drink may waste his money if he do not like it.
In my opinion, even though it is easy to go with things which you have already tried, People should try new things without concerning about time and money.
In conclusion, although individuals have their own attitudes towards trying things, I personally believe that people should always be ready to try something new. It will not only breaks the monotony but also gives internal satisfaction. If they keep doing same things, they will never get a chance to enjoy the other new activities.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both attitudes and providing a clear personal opinion. The ideas are relevant, such as the influence of social media on travel and the financial concerns regarding routine. However, the development is somewhat uneven; the explanation of social media as a 'source of money' is a bit tangential to the core concept of trying new things. While the position is clear, the supporting arguments could be more sophisticated and less reliant on anecdotal examples like the Instagram reel or the Starbucks friend to achieve a higher band.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay is logically organized with clear paragraphing. Each paragraph has a central topic, and the progression of ideas is generally easy to follow. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'On the one hand', 'Furthermore', and 'In conclusion', though some transitions feel a bit mechanical or repetitive. Referencing is generally clear, but there are instances where the flow is slightly disrupted by awkward phrasing, such as the transition between the social media point and the foodie example. Overall, the structure is coherent and serves the purpose of the task well.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the writer to convey their meaning clearly. There is an attempt to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'monotony', 'renowned', and 'adventurous'. However, the range is somewhat limited, and there are occasional inaccuracies in collocation, such as 'income is depends on' (should be 'depends on') and 'without concerning about' (should be 'without concern for'). To reach a higher band, the student should aim for more precise and varied lexical choices rather than relying on simple descriptive phrases.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors that persist throughout the text. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('other give preference', 'income is depends', 'he do not like it') and minor punctuation errors. While these errors do not impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent the essay from reaching the 7.0 band. The student should focus on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and verb tense consistency.
