Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. For instance, the arguments for staying with familiar things are repetitive, focusing mainly on contentment and cost without deep exploration. The essay structure is present, but the points lack sufficient supporting evidence or detailed explanation. To reach a higher band, you should expand on your ideas with specific examples or logical consequences rather than listing points. The conclusion is slightly disconnected from the main body, introducing new concepts like 'the law' and 'the will of god' which were not discussed previously.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical and sometimes inaccurate. Phrases like 'Next' and 'Lastly' are used repetitively to start sentences, which makes the flow feel somewhat stilted. Additionally, some referencing is unclear, such as 'doing such things' in the second paragraph, which lacks a clear antecedent. While there is an overall progression of ideas, the transitions between sentences could be smoother and more varied to improve the logical flow of the argument.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. There are several instances of word-choice errors and non-standard collocations, such as 'every individuals' (should be 'every individual'), 'stocked to their old culture' (should be 'stuck to'), and 'uncurious inviduals' (should be 'incurious'). You rely on basic vocabulary and struggle with accurate word forms. To improve, focus on learning common collocations and ensuring that you use words in their correct grammatical context. The range is sufficient to communicate your meaning, but it is not flexible enough to express complex ideas precisely.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('every individuals have', 'being a uncurious inviduals are'), tense inconsistencies ('that was not new'), and article usage. While you attempt some complex structures, they are often marred by errors, such as 'you can try any local food or cuisine that you want to experienced'. The punctuation is generally functional, but the high frequency of basic grammatical mistakes prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. You should focus on mastering basic sentence construction and subject-verb agreement before attempting more complex structures.
