Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both attitudes and providing a clear personal opinion. The ideas are relevant and generally well-supported with examples, such as the mention of the Dang region. However, the development of ideas is somewhat repetitive, particularly in the conclusion, which merely restates the points without adding depth. To reach a higher band, ensure that the personal opinion is more thoroughly integrated and justified throughout the body paragraphs rather than just stated at the end of the second body paragraph. The structure is logical, but the depth of analysis could be improved by exploring the long-term implications of these attitudes rather than just immediate benefits.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the two viewpoints. Cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand', 'On the other hand', 'Firstly', and 'Consequently' are used to guide the reader. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and there are instances where referencing is a bit weak, such as 'the multiple reason' (should be 'multiple reasons') and 'the same holiday destination'. The progression of ideas is generally clear, though the flow between sentences could be smoother to avoid a repetitive structure.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express ideas clearly. There is an attempt to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'broadening their horizons', 'authentic', and 'open-minded'. However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'give surety which food is best' instead of 'provides assurance' or 'guarantees', and 'know regarding' instead of 'know about'. While these errors do not impede communication, they limit the range and precision of the language. Expanding the use of more sophisticated collocations and idiomatic expressions would help elevate the score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement ('trying new things are more beneficial' should be 'is'), article usage ('the new culture' should be 'new cultures'), and pluralization ('the multiple reason' should be 'multiple reasons'). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are minor slips throughout. The writer demonstrates an ability to construct complex sentences, but the frequency of errors in basic grammar prevents the response from reaching a higher band. Focusing on proofreading for subject-verb agreement and article consistency would be highly beneficial.
