Student answer (Band 6.0)

It is debatable wether some individuals prefer to experience novel things such as exploraing a place and food etcetera or some love to do the same things. This essay will discuss both the views with relavent examples.

On the one hand, those who love to experience new things may do so because when they try a new thing then it helps them to take challanges and learn from them. For example, an artice published in BBC newspaper revealed that the more people explore the places, culture, food and so on, the more they become resilient and strong minded. Not only it assits them to know about the activity for example visiting a place, but also it opens the door for them to face unfamiliar things. As a result, they become more open-minded, and are willing to tackle with the situation which is breaking their comfort zone.

On the other hand, some other individuals, other part of the population like to keep doing the same things they are doing continuously because it minimizes the risk of failure and disappointment. (people who are introvert by their nature do not want to explore compare to extrovert one. sometimes people who are shy by nature find it hard to explore as it needs communication. So, that is why some people prefer to be in their comfort zone, where they do not feel hesitant or disappointed.

In conclusion, while routine provide comfort zone and a stress free life, it can lead to personal stagnation. In my opinion, seeking out new experience is far more advantageous for not only mental health but also to foster the personal growth and to knowledge.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both attitudes and providing a clear personal opinion in the conclusion. The ideas are relevant, such as the benefits of resilience for those who explore and the desire for security for those who prefer routine. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited. The example regarding the BBC article is a bit generic, and the explanation of why introverts prefer routine is slightly underdeveloped. To reach a higher band, you should expand on your points with more detailed reasoning or specific personal examples to ensure the argument is fully explored rather than just stated.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, with a clear introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand', 'On the other hand', and 'As a result' are used to guide the reader. However, there are some issues with referencing and flow. For instance, the transition into the second body paragraph is slightly abrupt, and the parenthetical inclusion of ideas in the third paragraph disrupts the flow. Improving the use of linking phrases and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear, unified focus would enhance the overall coherence.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'resilient', 'stagnation', and 'comfort zone' appropriately. There are some minor spelling errors, such as 'wether' instead of 'whether', 'exploraing' instead of 'exploring', and 'assits' instead of 'assists'. Additionally, some word choices are slightly awkward, such as 'tackle with the situation'. To improve, focus on refining your spelling and using more precise collocations. While your vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning clearly, incorporating a wider variety of less common lexical items would help you achieve a higher score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you successfully use complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors, such as 'routine provide' (subject-verb agreement), 'the more people explore... the more they become' (which is a good structure, but the surrounding syntax is slightly clunky), and 'to knowledge' (incorrect preposition usage). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the use of parentheses in the third paragraph. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and proofreading for minor errors that, while not impeding communication, occur frequently enough to impact the overall accuracy.
