Student answer (Band 6.0)

Some of the individuals prefer to do different kinds of activities like travelling and different foods, etc. However a group of people believes to stay in their zone and do things they are familiar with. This essay will discuss both the views and in the conclusion i will give my opinion.

To start with the people who loves to do adventures activities and different kind of food to eat. These type of people are mostly between 20 to 30 years age. They like to explore more as a new generation they loves freedom and want to make their life full of memories. For example, my friends and I always make plans to do different things and visit different places during our holidays. Moreover, youngsters are a curious kind of generation who like to eat different food all the time. For instance, when i came to Canada i saw different types of meats; I tried them all till today. These are some reasons some people like to do different activities, and I am also included in them.

However, some people believe in staying at home and doing easy and familiar things. These people are mostly older, between 40 and 50 years old. They want comfort and easy things. All the people of these ages are not like this, but the majority thinks the same. For example, older people in my village always prefer to stay home and eat homemade food always, because they think like older generations to play safe.

In conclusion, the people of young age mostly try different activities and food in their life to explore the world more and older age people always advise to stay home in front their eyes and eat only one kind of homemade food. In my opinion, i am with foremost one because we have to explore the world and different places and food everytime we are free, this things gives us confidence and experience about the world.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited and relies on broad generalizations, such as categorizing all people aged 20-30 as adventurous and those aged 40-50 as risk-averse. While the prompt is addressed, the supporting arguments lack depth and nuance. To reach a higher band, you should provide more sophisticated reasoning rather than relying on age-based stereotypes. The conclusion clearly states your position, but the overall development remains at a basic level.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the progression of ideas. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'To start with', 'Moreover', and 'In conclusion', though some transitions feel mechanical or repetitive. Referencing is generally clear, but there are instances where the flow between sentences is slightly disjointed. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the two viewpoints and the introduction/conclusion. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring that the relationship between sentences is more fluid.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks variety and precision. You rely on simple, repetitive phrases like 'different kinds of activities', 'easy things', and 'different food'. There are some attempts at less common vocabulary, but they are often used in a basic way. Collocations are sometimes unnatural, such as 'do adventures activities' instead of 'engage in adventurous activities'. To improve, try to incorporate more precise synonyms and idiomatic expressions to demonstrate a wider range of lexical control.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally hinder the flow. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'people who loves'), article usage, and awkward phrasing (e.g., 'in front their eyes'). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are errors in capitalization (e.g., 'i' instead of 'I'). While the meaning is usually clear, the frequency of these errors prevents the writing from reaching a higher band. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for subject-verb agreement would be beneficial.
