Student answer (Band 6.0)
Many people tend to explore new things like visiting new places or trying different types of food. However, some people are relying on their same routine and do not prefer to try new things. This essay shall discuss both the phenomena and give the conclusion.
To begin with, many people are very enthusiastic to experiences. Therefore, people usually visit new places and try new dishes. Visiting new locations also allows people to get knowledge about different cultures and traditions which also includes food, dance and clothes. Some individuals try different cuisines from around the world which enhances their taste and better understanding of local recipes. For example, some people visiting India from western world sometimes explore places and different kind of cuisine which also makes them familiar with variety of spices produced in India.
On the other hand, some individuals are neglecting unnecessary changes in their life and relying on their routine. The reason might be is that they fear of not having a good experience of exploring new things. Many people also avoid trying new things because of financial factor, as it might not be budget friendly for everyone to travel to new destinations or trying several food items. As a result, they are stuck with their routine activities and are not able to experience new things. However, I believe it is better for people to explore various places as it provides happiness and inner joy.
In conclusion, although some people avoid new experiences for several reasons like not having financial freedom or fear of not liking things, I think people should explore different places which helps them to be familiar with different cultures and traditions

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a clear personal opinion. The ideas are relevant, such as the cultural benefits of travel versus the financial constraints of routine. However, the development is somewhat limited; for instance, the explanation of why people prefer routine could be more deeply explored beyond just fear and cost. The conclusion is also quite abrupt and lacks a final summarizing thought. To reach a higher band, ensure that each body paragraph provides more detailed examples or logical extensions to fully support the points made.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, and there is a logical progression of ideas. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'To begin with', 'On the other hand', and 'As a result', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions feel a bit mechanical, and the referencing is occasionally repetitive. The concluding paragraph is incomplete, which affects the overall flow and sense of closure. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring a more robust conclusion would enhance the cohesion of the essay.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express ideas clearly. There are some attempts at less common vocabulary, such as 'enthusiastic to experiences' (though this is a collocation error) and 'financial freedom'. However, there are instances of imprecise word choice and awkward phrasing, such as 'relying on their same routine' and 'neglecting unnecessary changes'. To improve, focus on learning natural collocations and using more precise academic vocabulary to convey meaning more effectively.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with prepositions and verb forms, such as 'are relying on their same routine' instead of 'rely on the same routine' and 'fear of not having' instead of 'fear of not having'. There are also minor errors in article usage and subject-verb agreement. The sentence structures are functional but lack the complexity and error-free control required for higher bands.
